Nancy Jamail Obituary

Nancy Cater Jamail passed away peacefully on May 28th, 2024. She was born on December 19th, 1931, in Taylor, Texas, the daughter of Sam and Irene Cater. Her family moved to New Braunfels, Texas where she went to high school and became head cheerleader for the New Braunfels Unicorns. After high school, she attended the University of Incarnate Word before transferring to the University of Texas, where she met Emile, whom she fell in love with and married. Nancy went on to graduate from UT with a bachelor's degree in business administration and was a proud alumnus.

After living in Houston for several years, Nancy and Emile settled in Austin and spent many happy years together raising their family of three boys. However, Nancy's multi-faceted talents were not only limited to the home front, but she also owned and managed two fabric stores and assisted Emile with the design of the homes he was constructing for his burgeoning home building business.

Nancy lived her entire life, no matter the circumstances, with grace and dignity. She was a devout Catholic and dearly loved her whole family. Her keen interest in her loved ones' lives and desire to be connected to them would shape her days in the latter years of her life. She especially enjoyed the visits with her grandsons and cherished the time with her many nieces and nephews and their growing families.

Nancy had a sharp wit and a great sense of humor which stayed with her even during the most difficult times. She was one of the last of her generation and provided an example of how to be strong and courageous, while also showing love and kindness to all. She will be dearly missed.

Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Sam Cater, her mother, Irene Cater, her husband, Emile Jamail and her eldest son, Scott Jamail. She is survived by her brother, Emmett Cater, her sons Bryan Jamail and his wife, Marivec, Tim Jamail and his wife, Michelle, and their three sons James (his fiancé Susie), Jason & Ryan.

We will be forever grateful to Nancy's caregivers: Yolanda, Maria, Katrina, Jocelyn and Rita, for all the loving care they provided over the years.

Services will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church on Friday, June 21st at 10:30 in the morning, with the internment of her ashes and reception to follow on site. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the San Juan Diego Catholic High School.
