I sometimes polish the Liebenthal's stumbling stones in front of the house in which they used to live in Lehe (now Bremerhaven-Lehe) so they are visible again and the former residents are not forgotten. The message on Kurt's sign (i.e. the bear) reads "I polish against oblivion." It is part of a photo project (hashtag "KurtPutzt" on Instagram and X) that keeps the memory of Holocaust / Shoah victims alive.
May their memory be a blessing.
