Melissa Klute Obituary

Melissa Katherine Klute
1970-2015
After an extremely short battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive primary brain cancer, Melissa "Missy" Katherine Klute (née Farrow) died peacefully on the evening of August 9, 2015, surrounded by her loving family and closest friends. Missy leaves behind a devoted husband and a loving daughter, as well as her father, mother and brother, all of whom she was extremely close to.
Missy was born on October 2, 1970, in Selma, Alabama to Janet Strell and Michael Farrow. As part of an Air Force family, Missy moved frequently growing up, spending time in Marin, California, Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines and Denver, Colorado, before finally settling in Columbus, Mississippi, for her high school years. Missy went on to attend the University of Arizona, graduating with a degree in chemistry in May 1992. She went on to earn a further degree in secondary education from the University of Western Australia several years later.
Missy married her college sweetheart, Paul Klute, on December 12, 1992. They started their married life in San Francisco, California, where Missy worked as a research chemist making DNA for a cutting edge bio-tech company.
In early 1996, Missy and Paul had the opportunity to transfer overseas to Australia for what was meant to be a relatively short two-year assignment. Instead they spent the next 13 years living in Australia and the United Kingdom, which allowed Missy the opportunity to travel extensively across the globe.
Missy and Paul welcomed their beautiful daughter, Sarah, into this world in September 1997 in Perth, Australia. Missy and Sarah had a special bond, with Missy spending much of her time and energy supporting Sarah's growth into a beautiful young woman.
Words cannot possibly capture how special Missy was or how much she meant to those who were fortunate enough to know her. She could light up a room like few others could. Missy was sharp, quick-witted and one of the funniest people you could ever meet. She had a fun mischievous side, loved adventure and experiencing new things. Her list of places "I always wanted to go to" was never-ending, with two more added each time she successfully crossed one off. She was too young to leave us, had too much still to do and will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate to have known her.
A memorial service celebrating Missy's life will be held at 5:00 p.m., Monday, August 17, 2015, at St Mark's Episcopal Church located at 3816 Bellaire Boulevard, Houston, TX 77025. A reception at the church hall will be held immediately after. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be pleased if those wanting to make a donation would make a contribution to Victory, a division of the American Cancer Society www.victoryhouston.org.

Dear Paul and Sarah,
Please accept our sincere condolences for the loss of Melissa. We may be thousands of miles away, but you have been in our minds constantly since Melissa became ill. We will forever treasure our memories of our time with the Klute family in Perth. They were four wonderful years as we became new parents and friends. I (Lisa) grew to depend on Melissa at that time with our new babies and our families so far away. We will miss her stories of her family that she told with such pride and wit.
Our love and condolences also to the Strell and Farrow families.
Lisa, Daniel, Nicholas & Luca (Melbourne, Australia)
