Michael Clayton Skinner
11/16/1953 - 01/18/2023
Michael Clayton Skinner, age 69, passed away on January 18, 2023 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born in Texas City, Texas to Zane and Mary Ann Skinner and lived much of his life in Houston, Texas. Mike grew up in Glenbrook Valley and went to Charles Milby High School where he met many lifelong friends. He was a southpaw pitcher on the championship Milby baseball team and went on to pitch at Southwestern University as a scholarship athlete.
Mike loved Georgetown but returned to Houston for employment opportunities and met his future wife Doris. They endured her successful heart transplant and welcomed their daughter Erin to the family. During his long career at Lubrizol Corporation, he relocated his family to Mentor, Ohio in the 1990's where he lived until his death.
Mike was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Doris (Myers) Skinner, parents Zane and Mary Ann (Peterson) Skinner and younger brother 2nd Lt. Marty Skinner, USAF.
He is survived by his daughter Erin Skinner Stricker of Painesville, Ohio, brother VADM Mark Skinner, USN Ret. Of Naples, Florida (wife Suzanne), sister Zana Skinner Blakely (husband Richard) of Richmond, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass was held in Mentor, Ohio at St. Gabriel Catholic Church where Mike and Doris were parishioners for 29 years. A celebration of life gathering will be held in Houston, Texas on Saturday April 1, 2023. Please email the family at [email protected] for details.

Mike was one of my very best friends my senior year at Milby. He was the sweetest, funniest & most wonderful people I've ever known. I knew he'd moved his family to Ohio but I've thought of him so often.
Rest easy, my old friend..you
are where we're striving to be one day. May God bless you until I see you again!
