NICHOLAS CASTANEDA Obituary
NICHOLAS ARTHUR CASTANEDA (affectionately called "Niko") was born on January 22, 2000, to Francisco Castaneda and Michelle Mechling Castaneda. Nicholas was diagnosed at birth with a rare brain disorder. To know Niko was to see love in a different light. He lived in Missouri City and he attended various schools as a part of Fort Bend ISD's special education program. His family encircled him as his spirit returned to God on October 14, 2011.
Nicholas is survived by his parents, Francisco Castaneda and Michelle Mechling Castaneda; his half-sister Nikki Castaneda; his Aunt Patty and Uncle Eddy Toriello; and his cousins.
The Castaneda family would like to express gratitude for those that sustained Nicholas' life and cared for him so lovingly: Dr. Fernando Stein, Nicholas' primary care physician and guardian angel; Jed Nuchtern, pediatric surgeon; caretakers Eva Lerma, Loree Conrad and Margot Oyola; the medical staff at Texas Children's Hospital in the PCU unit; therapists Cheryl, Kathy, Millie, Marilyn and Sheila; and all the teachers and staff at Nicholas' schools.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wells Fargo Bank/Nicholas Castaneda Memorial Fund. All contributions will be donated to Texas Children's Hospital for a special gift in Nicholas' honor.
Visitation will be October 17, 2011 from 6:00-10:00 p.m. at Sugar Land Mortuary on 1818 Eldridge Road in Sugar Land, Texas (77478). Telephone: (281)277-1818

Niko was such a blessing to all who knew him. I will treasure my time with him forever. He was such a joy. Thank you for sharing him with me. My heart is happy knowing that he is free of discomfort and pain.

Niko taught me so much. I feel so priviledged to have known and loved him. He was pure love wrapped in his earthly body. Now he is free to sing and dance. I am overjoyed for him, as I know he is leaping about Heaven, in his new body; My heart breaks for those left behind.
