Patricia Rowe Obituary

PATRICIA McLELLAND ROWE was born August 19, 1929, in Prescott, Arkansas, and passed away April 16, 2005. In 1949, she graduated from Texas Woman's University, married Sam A. Rowe and moved to Alvin, Texas. Patsy established the Home Economics Department at Danbury High School. After the birth of her first child, she became a full time wife, mother, homemaker, and community leader. Patsy held strongly to her Methodist faith, and taught Sunday School for many years. Patsy loved learning, reading, and children. She served as President of the Alvin Library League, and of the Brazoria County Library Board of Directors, and was instrumental in the construction of the new Alvin Library. As President of the Alvin Mother's Club, she convinced the Alvin City Council to require all new streets in Alvin to have sidewalks. For many years, she visited every new resident in Alvin, on behalf of the Alvin State Bank. Patsy is survived by her devoted husband, Sam; mother Thais McLelland of Prescott, Arkansas; brother and wife John and Dawn McLelland of Prescott, Arkansas; sister Peggy Burley of Kingwood, TX; daughter Elizabeth (Betsy) of New York City; sons and their wives Mark (Joan) of Calgary AB, David (Susan) of Indianapolis IN, John (Amanda) of Richmond VA, and grandchildren Sam, Lindsay, Arthur, Tim, Paul, Katie, and Sarah. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Alvin Library League, 105 S. Gordon St., Alvin, TX 77511. Visitation will be Monday, April 19th from 7 to 9 PM at Scott Funeral Home in Alvin. Funeral Services will be at 10AM on Tuesday, April 20th at the First United Methodist Church of Alvin.
