Robert Limerick Wilson Erwin, born on October 16, 1946, loved to travel the world and was a fervent sailor. He lived past the capacity of his heart and the expectations of his doctors and on the morning of September 11, 2024, he hoisted the mainsail and slipped into the calm waters and high winds of a new adventure.
As a passionate rugger, Bob played for and was involved in the formation of numerous rugby clubs throughout Texas, Indiana and Minnesota. He helped organize the United States of America Rugby Football Union and was an active member of the USARFU Board of Governors. In 2020, Robert received the Rugby Union's Lifetime Achievement Award. He must have taken his rugby cleats with him, because we can't find them anywhere.
Through his company, MaxEn Capital Advisors in Houston Texas, he sought and restructured companies that offered cutting edge innovation in the field of environmental and energy solutions. As an unapologetic liberal Texan, Bob stayed informed. He read a book a week or several at the same time. Conversations with Bob always went deep and you could depend on being smarter on the other end.
He left us wanting more. More laughs, more idealistic possibilities, more stories, more risk that turned into elegance and generosity. He left us too soon and leaves behind friends all over the world. He also leaves his loving wife, Joyce Wells, and his beloved family; his sister, Sally Foster, his niece, Sharon O'Shields, grandniece, Rachel David, grandnephew, Ryan O'Shields, great-grandnieces, Lily David and Karter O'Shields, great-grandnephew Jack David.
