Robert Hoskins Obituary

ROBERT COLEMAN HOSKINS
1961-2015
Robert Coleman Hoskins, affectionately known as "Robt", was called home by his Lord and Savior on February 13, 2015. His bright, cheerful life began on December 20, 1961, in Houston, Texas where he was welcomed into the world by his parents, Isaac and Noema Hoskins. This proud Aggie graduated from Texas A & M University in 1984 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. After graduation, Robert began his work in the oil field, with the intention of learning the business from the ground up. This took him out of Texas for a little while, and into Oklahoma where he met Donna K. Tite. They became lifelong sweethearts on November 4, 1988. Together, Robert and Donna supported each other through countless moves and international travels. They had one son, Robert Coleman Hoskins Jr., and one daughter, Kaci Hoskins. Throughout his life, Robert touched the lives of everyone around him with his consistent ability to find the silver lining in everything. He was a special man who held many very special roles. He was a son, a husband, a father, a coach, a hard-working employee and boss, and he always seemed to have no problem flowing seamlessly from one to the other. His upbeat attitude, loyalty, honesty, intelligence, empathy, and incredible work ethic impressed and earned him the respect of countless employers and employees throughout his career. For 27 years, he worked diligently for BJ Services before moving on to Baker Hughes and then finally landing his dream job as the President of Trican USA. He had a smile that could light up any room, and nobody was immune to his contagious laugh, quick-wit, and sense of humor. Robert spent the last years of his life doing what he loved – traveling to and from his favorite place in the entire world, his ranch in Eastland, TX. He considered it to be a blessing from God and made it a place for his family and friends to come together and enjoy the simpler way of life. Together, he and his entire family built many happy memories there, along with his right-hand man Ray Meadows, and his dog Trisha – who was an ever-faithful friend.
Robert is preceded in death by his father, Isaac Coleman Hoskins. He is survived by his mother, Noema Hoskins, his wife, Donna Hoskins, his son, Robert Hoskins Jr., his daughter, Kaci Hoskins, his sister, Donna Veale, his beloved nieces, Allison Veale, Marion Veale, Callie Veale, Crystal Tite, and Autumn Berlew, and his special nephews, which include Coleman Veale, Austin Metheny, and Dylan Berlew. Memorial service to celebrate Robert's incredible life will be held at the Klein Funeral Home in Magnolia, TX on Friday, February 20th at 2:00 PM, and a graveside service will immediately follow at Klein Memorial Park, 14711 FM1488, Magnolia, TX.

Happy Birthday in Heaven, Uncle Robert!!!!!

January 25, 2018

Uncle Robert,
Words will never express how much both you and Grandmother Noema are missed. Thanksgiving and Christmas and Birthdays are still very difficult. I know Grandmother is so happy that the Astros won. Hurricane Harvey was really bad. I remember when Ike hit and Grandmother and Champ were evacuating to The Woodlands area. I remember Coleman having to deliver a generator there. As I sit here and type this I can't help but cry. Grandmother, I helped Mom clean out your house and it still smelt like you. Aunt Donna said I could have your windchimes but I forgot them. I tripped and fell on the sidewalk leading up to the house. My friend Andrew was with me. I cried so many times that day. I love you so much. I was your first Granddaughter and you ALWAYS told me you thought of me everyday cause your computer password was always my name with a number after it. I'm so lucky to have had you for 31 years. I wanted to take care of you when Mom said the Doctor recommended hospice. She wouldn't let me. As the song goes, only the good die young. That goes for both Uncle Robert and you. I don't know if the void of yall's loss will ever be filled or ever go away. I can't eat spaghetti without thinking of Uncle Robert and Aunt Donna telling me it was worms and their guts. I can't see a Doberman and not think of Rosie. I love ya'll and miss ya'll everyday. See you on the other side one day! XOXO

We met Robert in 2012 when he came to look at our ranch in Eastland. We had shown it to many but we knew it needed a special family to own it! I knew the reason that he was looking to buy a ranch was for the same reasons we had purchased it years before, to create the memories for our family. We feel blessed that we were able to help Robert create the memories just as we did. It couldnt have gone to a better family. We were so shocked when we heard this news and wanted to let the family know what it meant to us that we had met Robert in our walk of life.

Donna, Kaci and RC,
I had the honor and pleasure of working with Robert for many years, while I was based overseas with BJ. I found him to be open, honest, and welcoming and certainly counted him among my friends. He had such joy in life and family, and it showed in his work. He was so respected within the BJ "family" and it was on display at his funeral yesterday! Many of those international colleagues, was unable to attend Robert's funeral, but they asked for me to pass on their condolences and respects. Know that our collective thoughts and prayers are with you! We share your pain and sense of loss.

Finally, to Kaci, I just wanted to say that I saw your father's strength in you yesterday. You did a wonderful job with your statements!

I am so sorry to hear about Robert. Everything in his obituary rings true about him. We truly cherish the time we spent during softball. Paige was blessed to have Robert as her first coach back in Kindergarten and then later on for The Peppers. I know the best time she had was when Robert coached the combined 14U Hawks/Peppers while the high school girls were playing their season. The girls had a blast that season and he was the center of it all.

We pray that God will bless your family and bring you peace. - Mark, Gina, Paige, and Emily Thompson

My condolences to Ms. Hoskins and the rest of the family. I knew Robert for my whole life...he was an integral part of my childhood living two houses down. As kids, he was Running Razorback and I was Leaping Longhorn - tributes to our favorite college teams, playing football, racing around the block on our bikes, and enjoying what little boys love to do....playing without a worry in the world. For four years we mowed lawns together and split the proceeds.....$2.50 each. Our lives took us on different paths and we drifted apart from each other....but Robert's memory and impact will always be a part of me. He'll always be my first best friend....that will never change.

Noema and Family,
I just learned of Roberts passing, I cannot imagine the pain you and your family must be experiencing now. The pain and loss of a son may never heal; you just don't get over the sadness and loss of a son and especially someone like Robert. He represented so much to so many and I will always cherish the times we spent together. I regret that we loss contact over the years as I so enjoyed being with him and his ready smile and our kidding each other. Robert was a bright, unique and positive person that was always ready to help those in need and will be greatly missed. He was so blessed in so many ways and certainly a blessing to all he met.
Please know my prayers are with you and his family in this time of grief.

Robert was the first friend of my life and knew him from the time I could walk. He lived two doors down.....he was Running Razorback and I was Leaping Longhorn as we played tackle football, kick the can, and doing fun things that little boys do. We grew apart as Robert fell in love and made a family. I regret we didn't stay in touch. When the chips were down.....Robert was somebody who wouldn't abandon you. My prayers are with his family.

Robt was a gaint of a man, his charisma filled the room, always a loud laugh and a joke to tell at the right time, but a rock when things were not so good, a friend, a colleague and a man that cast a long shadow, they say it's the good ones the Lord takes home first, well in this case one of the very best. My thoughts and prayers are for the family, but this is why we are born, to return home to paradise, and we will all meet there again soon. It was a real pleasure to have shared part of my life with you my friend.

It was an absolute blessing to play for Coach Robert. He was my first tournament ball coach, and I will never forget what he did for me in the amount of time that I played for him. He took a chance on some league ball kid and gave me a chance to improve my game and play at the next level. Because of him, I'm living out my dream playing D1 softball and it is all because of the doors he opened for me. Not only was he a great coach, but a great man and father. I will never forget his smiling face and upbeat attitude. Even after playing for him, every time I would see him...it was with a smile and open arms for a big hug. I will never forget you, Coach Robert. Thank you for all of the memories. My deepest condolences and prayers go out Kaci, R.C., and Ms. Donna. Stay strong
