Roy Joe Eccles, who went by "Joe," unexpectedly passed away at his home on January 25, 2018, just a few days after his 52nd wedding anniversary. He was born in Baytown, Texas on June 9, 1943 to Cecil and Thelma Eccles as their only child. He loved growing up in Baytown and was a proud graduate of Robert E. Lee in 1961. He then attended Texas A&M and was in the Corps of
Cadets for one year. He graduated in 1965 as an honors graduate in Accounting with his BBA degree.
Joe worked for Arthur Young for a year in Dallas before attending University of Texas in Austin where he earned his MBA degree. In 1966, he married a Baytown classmate, Maudeen Frazier
Eccles. Joe worked for numerous firms in Houston including Arthur Andersen, Intermedco, McCormick Oil, Merrill Lynch, and Wacker Oil. He was extremely dedicated to his work as an executive and known for his diligence and pursuit of excellence.
Joe was an unforgettable person who was witty, charming and a true travel agent at heart, planning wonderful trips for his family throughout the U.S., Europe, Asia and Russia.
Joe is survived by his wife, Maudeen, daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Paul Tucker of Austin, and his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Scott and Charlotte Eccles. His four beloved grandchildren include Ava and Evan Tucker, and Addison and Caroline Eccles. He also had many beloved relatives in Louisiana.
Joe requested that there be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to the Star of Hope Mission, Houston SPCA, and Hurricane Harvey victims.
