Roy Williams Obituary

Roy Bain Williams
06/29/1941 - 03/06/2023
R. Bain Williams passed away on Monday, March 6, after struggling with Parkinson's for twelve years. He didn't let Parkinson's slow him down until around three years ago. Bain was a mover and shaker and one of a kind when it came to his generosity and compassion for others. He would never leave a stranger or friend in need, and his commitment to his community and the military was unconditional.
One would never know what to expect from Bain, and that made hanging out with him so much fun. He was a committed, dependable, and loving husband to Linda, loving and active father to Cooper and Carrie, and a loving and supportive father-in-law to Jamie.
We want to share some quotes from messages his friends lovingly sent to him as he was managing his last days:
"You have been a very important part of my life as a business partner ... and most importantly, a great friend. Save me a seat, and have a drink waiting." JS
"Your thoughtfulness in writing to my son (Down syndrome child), and sending him encouraging thoughts and well wishes, struck a chord in my heart." AH
"A mover and a shaker who makes things happen ... obtaining money for the computer labs at Fredericksburg campus of Texas Tech, and countless auction items purchased at various fundraisers throughout the county. You have my admiration in spades!" RC
"Your desire to work the land and forge for arrowheads makes me smile." GH
"You are one of the most generous and kind hearted people I have known, and you have been like a father to me ... a sort of Guardian Angel on earth." JL
"Your wink was just too cute, and your personality always shines through." PF
"Love you, Bain. Thanks for being such a true and good friend." J&PJ
"... wonderful times at Lakeside, Whispering Pines, and Boot Ranch. You and Linda were always consummate hosts. Even with some disagreements during discussions, there was always mutual respect." NM
"Bain - an attentive, loving, and doting father, a true Patriot, a caring a loving friend, and a man who loves his wife beyond measure." J&TC
"Please know how much we treasure Cooper, such an excellent man." S&AJW
From a regular visitor to Bain's bedside: "Bain was always so grateful for the opportunity to have a conversation, even if it was short sentences. I had to promise to bring him a strawberry shake on next visit!" DH
"Bain ... you are generous and kind, always looking out for others and your love for our country is beyond measure." EH
"I hope you know the profound mark you've made upon me and my family." BK
"You were the first guy I met at Boot Ranch ... got me involved with the Nimitz ... think about our good times every day." JS
"... Remember walking with you around the entire (965) property and feeling how much you loved being with nature." JH
"... I remember you taking me to your property to teach me how to successfully shoot one of your prized shotguns. You are THE MAN!" JK
"Bain, you went out of your way to be kind to my mother at Heritage Place, showing her some favorite rocks." CC
"Jackie and I have had such a rich friendship with you and Linda and oh, so may laughs. Love you, Buddy." RM
"The way you raised Carrie and Copper is such a tribute to the man you are - strong and courageous with humor thrown in!" JM
"Bain, you have always been so nice to me and made my day when you came in here (locker room)." BA
"From the golf course, to the locker room, and points in between ... was nothing but a blast." DW
"I remember playing in your Nitmitz foursome, with the Wounded Warrior and witnessing the admiration you had for him and what he had given up for our freedom." DH
"... how long we have known each other going back to LCC and now Boot Ranch. It has been a privilege given most people do not experience friends for that long." TM
"Dear Bain: I will forever remember you, Bain. How fun to be around. You and your family became close to my heart." M, with hospice.
"It always made me smile to go out into the clubhouse dining room and see you and Linda laughing with my parents and eating dinner. Thank you for always having a kind word for me." LB
"Sure do miss your smiling, happy face around here." KP
"I love watching you be a phenomenal husband to Linda. Your beautiful relationship is a pleasure to watch." JM
"Bain, you are one of my longest standing and very special friends ... hunting, fishing, dinner and dancing with Paula and Linda, traveling, doing business together. I love you, friend." DP
"Dear Bain, just came by to give you a hug and a kiss." MM
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Fredericksburg.
For those wishing to honor Bain's life, his favorite charities were the local ones. Also The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
