Graveside Services for Theda Ogg, 95, of Tyler Texas, will be held on Monday May 7, 2018 at Forest Park East Cemetery, Webster, Texas with Brother Elwood Stetson officiating under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home of Tyler, Texas.
Mrs. Ogg passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018 in Tyler, Texas. She was born March 7, 1923 in Plum, Texas to Maybelle Pettijohn Dear and Howard Hamilton Dear. She was married to V.L. (Bill) Ogg for over 60 years, living in Houston, Texas. In the early 1950's they purchased acreage in South Houston where they raised their children. In 1975 they moved to the Kirkwood Subdivision in Southeast Houston where they enjoyed much of their retirement years. In 2005 Theda moved to the Tyler area.
Theda was a member of First Baptist Church of Bullard, Texas and previously of South Main Baptist Church in Pasadena, Texas. Her church activities included managing and working in church libraries, teaching Sunday School, and in her later years she especially enjoyed working in the church nursery.
She graduated from San Jacinto High School in Houston, Texas in 1939. She subsequently attended Business College and worked in several businesses before starting a family. She devoted the rest of her life as a homemaker, mother and accomplished gardener raising vegetables and flowering plants. She was involved in her children's activities including Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and various sports activities.
Theda was preceded in death by her parents, Maybelle Pettijohn Dear and Howard Hamilton Dear; husband, V.L. (Bill) Ogg; all 5 siblings, John Dear, Edna Burkett, Claude Ray Dear, Rudolf Dear, and Clyde Dear; son-in-law, A. A. (Lonnie) McLeod; and great grandson, Tanner Douglas. She is survived by her loving family including her children, Pat McLeod of Houston, Texas; T. Michael Ogg Sr. and wife Bobbie of Tyler, Texas; W. Timothy Ogg, Sr and wife Debbie of Fayetteville Arkansas. Additionally, she is survived by grandchildren, Karen and husband Peter Kowalik; Kathy and husband Bart Oxspring; Stacie and husband Chad Skidmore; Michael Ogg, Jr and wife Heather; and Timothy Ogg, Jr., Theda is also survived by her sister-in-law Betty Dear; 11 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews including a very close lifelong relationship with niece Bernice Anderson.
Visitation is scheduled from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 7, 2018 at Forest Park East Cemetery, Webster, Texas followed by graveside services at 1:00 p.m.
