Thomas Tufty Obituary

Thomas Lee Tufty, Sr.
1945-2015
How do I begin to put into words the depth of my loss? My sweet, blue-eyed Norwegian husband, Thomas L. Tufty, Sr., passed away June 15, 2015, in San Miguel de Allende, GTO, Mexico. Tom suffered a life-changing stroke on his birthday February 1, 2012, though debilitating, through thick and thin Tom was always "Outstanding". He felt life is too short to live it any less than Outstanding! Tom seemed content to know he made it to this beautiful part of the world. I told him just a few days after arriving to Mexico that we had one heck of a ride and he said "Yes, we did".
As I watched Tom's light grew ever dimmer, I was and will always be eternally grateful that I was able to fulfill his last wish to finish his days out in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. I was blessed beyond reason to have had Tom in my life.
Tom found his home in Texas by way of the United States Navy serving as a First Gunner's Mate in Galveston. Upon discharge, Tom became a firefighter before finding his true passion and 23 year career of selling Lexus automobiles. Tom always said he never met a stranger because all his clients were friends. I know I speak for his Westside Lexus family, as well as his natural family and friends in saying how much he will be missed.
Tom is survived by his ever faithful and loving wife, Sherrea Renea Courtney, his daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Jarrett Rogers and grandchildren Colton Rogers, Parker Rogers and Kiley Rogers. His son, Thomas Tufty, Jr. and step-sons Anthony Hinojosa and John Hinojosa.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate the life of Tom on August 2, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, 12955 Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77079.

Tom was great guy an "Outstanding" husband. He was always so happy...I'll never forget his very positive attitude and his favorite response to things that were happening ... "Outstanding" . Rest in peace Tom, you are missed.

Served on the USS Haynsworth with Tom. Good friend -- so many years ago but seems like yesterday.

I met Tom aboard the Haynesworth. He was a great guy with a sense of humor beyond description. I wish we had stayed in touch. May God bless his family and loved ones.

Tom's incredibly optimistic "outstanding", in spite of his continuous decline, was an amazing inspiration to us all. We had hoped to be able to share more "outstanding" times with him here in San Miguel than we did. That time with him was cut far too short. We miss our outstanding brother-in-law greatly, but we know he will be flitting around causing mischief in heaven.

Dear Sherrea,

So sorry we are unable to make it to the memorial service. Just reminiscing about times we have spent with you both and found this photo of us all in San Miguel taken October 4th, 2013. That trip with you guys made a significant impact on our lives which shortly after resulted in the last major move we hope to ever make; our retirement home.

Yes Tom did love this place and so do we. I am so happy he got to spend his last days there, he will be sadly missed. San Miguel is a magical place for sure!!!!

We were customers of Tom that felt more like friends. Sometimes, we just stopped by to say Hi to him. He was always positive and always spoke of his family. He was a delightful person in every way. Please accept our condolences.

So Sad! Going to miss hearing that you are "outstanding" and that mischievous smile when you are eating candy and spending time with you and your desire to make me happy and well pretty much everything!

Sherrea, please accept my sincere condolence on the passing of Tom. Tom was such a consummate pro when it came to selling Lexus automobiles. I always enjoyed servicing Tom's clients when given the opportunity because I loved hearing his clients speak so kindly towards Tom. Tom is a gentleman that will greatly be missed by all that knew him. Prayers to you and the family during this very hard time.
