Mr. Kielman was my German teacher at Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown Tx for two years then he left. I loved him and I will always remember one poetry contest I entered where I was to recite 'Der Erlkoenig'. I thought I did excellent and so did Toxie. When it came time to get an award, I was called up to the assembly in front of all my peers, given a trophy and went and sat back down. Moments later, they asked me to come back up to the front and give back the trophy, because there had been some 'confusion' and I was instead handed a piece of paper. Toxie felt so badly about that, that when we got back to school, a couple days later he handed me a trophy with my name on it that he had purchased! I never forgot that nor will I. I went on to learn two more years of German with the replacement teacher, which served me well as I ended up being stationed in Mannheim Germany after I graduated. I just came on here looking for him in hopes of visiting him and saying hello. He was such a wonderful man!

Mr. Kielman was my German teacher at R. E. Lee High School and a dependable member of St. Mark Methodist Church in Baytown. I always thought highly of him and appreciated him as a teacher and as an artillery observer in WWII. He got me off to a good start, which I continued by majoring in German at SMU from 1961 to 1965.
