William "Bill" J. Conlon

Cleveland - William "Bill" J. Conlon, Jr., age 85, a Cleveland resident, passed away Friday evening, March 5, 2021 at his home.

He was born April 27, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York, son of the late William J. Conlon, Sr. and Irene L. (Wilson) Conlon. Bill married Linda Marie Preston on September 10, 1977. The couple later renewed their vows on September 11, 1983. He was a civil engineer specializing in wastewater and freshwater treatment plants. He concluded his career with Rust Engineering in Sheboygan after spending 50 years in the industry. Bill shared his knowledge by hosting seminars at Phoenix University and authoring a chapter in the American Water Works Engineering Manual on the reverse osmosis of water. In his spare time, he was an amateur radio buff and was a member of the Amateur Radio Club in Sheboygan. Bill loved to travel and he loved to tell you his funny jokes. He also loved his Green Bay Packers.

Survivors include his wife: Linda Conlon, Cleveland; one daughter and son-in-law: Lori (Brian) Ryder, Plantation, FL; one son: Billy Conlon, Plantation, FL; two grandchildren: Julie Lewis and Casey Kostick; one great-grandson: Chase Gokun; two sisters-in-law: Kathleen Hecksher, Bokeelia, FL and Patricia (John) Bruffett, Ava, MO; one brother-in-law: Vincent (Suzanne) Preston; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister: Irene Perry; one brother: Bobby Conlon; and two daughters: Elizabeth Conlon and Susie Conlon.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held for the family at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, Newton.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jeremy Fessler, Nicole Danberg, and Shana Houge from Sharon S. Richardson Hospice, Chaplains Elizabeth and Ronnie, as well as caregivers: Kristin, Tamika, Gabrielle, Alyssa, Tara, and Shante for their love and compassion shown to Bill.

The Sheboygan County Amateur Radio Club would like to express our deepest symphonies at your loss. Although only a member for a few years, his stories of travel and radio operation where always of great enjoyment. He will be missed.
