George Beavers Obituary

George H. Beavers
May 7, 1933 - January 3, 2015
George H. Beavers passed away peacefully at his home with his wonderful wife of 57 years and his oldest son by his side on January 3, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 81. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2015 at Valley Church. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.dakanfuneralchapel.com.
George was born on May 7, 1933 in Woodland, IA to Fay and Della Beavers (Johnson). He was the youngest of five children. He grew up and graduated from Wilder High School in 1952. Around this time he met his future wife, Mary, through his brother, Ward and Mary's sister, Evelyn who were dating. George moved to Wichita, Kansas and worked for Boeing Aircraft but wrote letters to Mary during his time away. A few years later on March 3, 1957 they were married in Wilder, Idaho at the home of Pastor Shaw.
They returned to Wichita and welcomed their first son, Ricky Lee in 1958. They returned to Idaho two years later and Mary's oldest brother, Gerald helped in getting George a job at Home Dairies. In 1962, they had their second son, Monty Dean. George worked for 36 years with Home Dairies/Darigold and retired from there at age 62. After one year of retirement George went back to work for Caldwell Transportation and later Vallivue School District. To him this wasn't work but a way to find new friends and keep busy. After being diagnosed with Myeloma in 2008, he went back into retirement.
George was a great provider and made sure his wife would be taken care of if anything happened to him. He was a hard worker who loved to hunt and fish. He taught his sons the 'fine art' of pheasant and deer hunting. They learned from the best and say he was the best hunter they have ever seen. There are many great fishing and hunting stories that can be told about George. George never met a stranger. Through his jobs and church he had a multitude of friends in Idaho and beyond. He made people feel welcome and appreciated. He was always doing for others with a smiling face and a caring heart. George was known for his positive attitude, hospitality, and his distinct whistle. Even after being diagnosed with cancer he continued to be active riding his ATV, catfishing, and meeting his buddies every morning for coffee. Even in his last days he was concerned about the feelings of those around him.
George is survived by his wife, Mary of Caldwell; Son, Rick Beavers of Adrian, OR; Son, Monty (Anita) Beavers of Nampa; Grandchildren Kelly Beavers, Kimberly Gregory (Ben), Alan Beavers, and Jackie Beavers; Great Grandson Matthew Gregory and a second great grandchild on the way. Sister, Marjorie Hamlin-Larsen, Nampa; Brothers Ward Beavers and Kenneth Beavers (Dottie) both of Caldwell; Numerous nieces and nephews with special mention of his two nieces who were like daughters, Connie Blele and Cindy McLaughlin (Ray) both of Caldwell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fay and Della Beavers and his oldest brother, Fay Delbert Beavers.

Mary and family. I am sorry for your loss, but heaven's gain. George was always a happy person. Knowing him in school years and then having the opportunity to visit with him when he would come to Central Canyon brought a smile to those around him. God bless each one of you. Sorry I will not be able to make it to his memorial service.

Mary, Monte, and family: My thoughts and prayers are with your family in this time of loss. I had the unique opportunity of working with George for many years at the dairy. I'll never forget his constant smile and familiar whistle. In Nampa and Caldwell, he was Mr. Home Dairies. He will be missed by us all.

What a sweet man! We kitchen ladies at East Canyon always looked forward to his sweet smile as he came in whistling and greeting us with, "Good morning my fellow Americans!" The world needs more like George...
