Lois Owen Obituary

Tucson - Many knew Lois as the diminutive grandmother in the tiny yellow car who scooped up her grandson from school every day and baked brownies for the local police force. She was also a woman who once petitioned a governor for an AWOL soldier in the 1960s, got thrown out of a church for divorcing her husband in the 1970s, and later pushed aside her religious teachings to embrace her two daughters' wives. She was a five-foot-two bundle of loyalty, compassion, and fierceness.

Lois Owen, most recently of Tucson, Arizona and previously of Nampa, Idaho, left us on October 6, 2023, just three days shy of her 76th birthday.

Lois had a galaxy-sized soft spot for the vulnerable, especially children and animals. A decade prior, Lois had moved to Southern Arizona to help take care of Liam, beloved grandson and son of her oldest daughter, Lauri. As Lois would tell anyone who listened, Liam was the sweetest, smartest, and handsomest child ever to kiss the world with his feet. Meanwhile, her four (human) daughters joked her cat, uninspiringly but lovingly named Kitty, was Lois' true favorite daughter.

During her battle with cancer, Lois' daughters and grandson tended her at home. All four daughters and her grandson surrounded her when she passed.

Lois Owen was preceded in death by her mother, Bernita June Jinks, her father, Harold Walter Allen, and her sisters, Edna Denise Allen and Neta Darlene Allen. Lois is lovingly survived by her four daughters--Lauri Owen, Linda Owen, Lesleigh Owen, and Christina Owen-as well as her grandson, Liam Owen, and her brother, Lloyd Duane Allen.

Loved ones interested in celebrating Lois' life in a spring 2024 ceremony in Oregon should contact Linda or Lesleigh Owen for details. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please send donations in honor of Lois to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Boise Rescue Mission.

What a beautiful tribute to a beautiful and loving some. Lois was the kindest sweetest woman, mother and grandmother. She was always quick to want to hug your neck. She made us laugh when she would do her Lois dance! She was quite a lady. I am so lucky to have known her, there will never be another like Lois and our world is a little smaller and sadder without her. God bless you Lois, you will be truly missed, rest in peace sweet lady, I will never forget you!
