November 13, 1934 - January 21, 2013
Darrell D. Wellard, 78, life-long resident of Pocatello, passed away peacefully at home in his wife's arms on Monday, January 21, 2013. He had fought a valiant twelve-year battle with cancer.
Darrell was born Nov.13, 1934 to Frank and Olive Wellard at Meador's Fish Hatchery outside Pocatello, where his father worked at the time. Darrell attended Roosevelt Elementary, Franklin Jr. High and Pocatello High School.
Darrell wed Bonnie Taylor on March 5, 1955. They had two beautiful daughters, Cindy and Traci. They later divorced.
Darrell married Laree Sanders in 1968 and the marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on their anniversary in 1978. They have been sweethearts for fifty years. Together they have six children. He looked forward to hunting geese every year on the Fort Hall Reservation and shared that love with his boys. Darrell and family enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping together. Darrell was an avid bowler and enjoyed every opportunity to play golf. He loved to compete in nearly anything…he wanted to win or hurt tryin'.
Darrell worked as a cement mason for most of his life and was known for his beautiful work and his impeccable integrity.
Darrell is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Olive Wellard; a brother F. Jay Wellard; and two sisters, Bernice Lowe and Maxine Kobe.
Darrell is survived by the love of his life, Laree Wellard, and his children: Cindy (Mike) Stone, Eureka, CA; Traci (Mike) Burke, Redding, CA; Kimberly (Bryan) Taylor, Pendleton, OR; Nikole (Brent) Eaton, Casper, WY; Rock (Shawna) Wellard, Chubbuck, ID; Feather (Dennis) Foster, Pocatello, ID; Brick (Tabitha) Wellard, Keizer, OR; Kasey (Angela) Wellard, Pocatello, ID; a sister, Helen (David) Anderson, St. George, UT and a brother, Gordon Wellard, Pocatello, ID, 28 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Darrell will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 11:00 am at the LDS Chapel located on the corner of Cedar and Poole. Visitation will be held at Colonial Funeral Home on Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 6-8pm. as well as one hour prior to the services.

Hey Darrell, remember the time at Egan. We were playing softball and I threw a ball from center field and you tagged out a guy trying to make a triple out of a double? Boy was he surprised. Great memories, great to have known you. See you on the other side. God Bless you. You will be missed. Condolences to your family.
