Jone Taylor Obituary

"Love is never wasted, for its value does not rest upon reciprocity." - CS Lewis

I was born June 25, 1957, the favorite daughter of Lee and Sonja Durney. Growing up, my folks provided my brother Eric, and myself loads of opportunities to try anything and everything. As a family we participated in sports, music, art, work and play. I learned that anything is possible. Thank you for the best start in life, Mom and Dad.

I grew up in Blackfoot, Idaho and graduated BHS in 1975 with Marshall Tucker Band, Doobie Brothers, and Fleetwood Mac blaring on the radios of Road Runners, Cameros and Firebirds. What a great time.

Todd Taylor and I married almost 22 years ago. I couldn't ask for a better partner and best friend. He made sure we shared more laughter than tears. My favorite child, Hailey Edwards, married Jake Pratt. They gave me two treasured gifts. Kodi Vacello and Billie Grace. Being their grandma was the best gig. I am over the top proud of Hailey and her family and they will forever have my heart. Marrying Todd brought bonus daughters and their families (Katie Cooper, Jessica Beam and Jane Taylor). Bonus love.

If our paths crossed, I considered you a friend. Maybe it was school, work, playing pool, golf or yoga. Maybe it was playing Bridge. I was lucky enough to have a tribe of friends. Longtime friends and new friends. I'm so grateful for the love and support of dear family and friends.

Bulbar Onset ALS crashed the party August 2022. My family and friends were bouncers helping me keep the effects of it at bay for as long as possible. ALS chips away and robs people of their ability to stay connected. It takes the voice, it takes muscle strength, it takes the breath but it never took my gratitude and love for family and friends. My Grandparents, Gordon and Maxine Durney and Ernie and Grace Josephson were wonderful people. They departed from this world and I hope they are saving me a seat at an after party. Who knows? Maybe I'll be hanging out with Waylon, Prince, Princess Di, Tom Petty and Darwin (my dog and Charles if he's game). I do know, if it's possible, I will be saving seats at my after party. I love you all. Except three of you.

Huzzah!

If my family decides to have a going away party they will let you know. If they don't I'll be hanging around causing trouble and doing good deeds.

The family is under the care of the Hawker Funeral Home. Condolences can be shared with the family at www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.

When you are 7 and you visit your cousin and she lets you ride in her car hanging out the sunroof you realize how amazing and cool she is. At 14 when you watch her play softball and shoot a game of pool with her you realize how talented and competitive she is. Some of my other cousins may argue their side but she may have been the best athlete in the family. Over the years you get to experience more wonderful moments when you visit your family in Idaho and that is what makes a cousin like you so special.

She touched every life she came into contact with and was constant light in the yoga studio. She will be greatly missed.

I went to the yoga class only one time before I moved to another town. Although I was really quite bad at it, Jone still made me feel great about myself. We spoke at length after class about many things.
We shared the time we grew up, as I was born 1 month before her and graduated HS only 10 miles away from her in the same year, and we enjoyed the same music.
I'm glad we met and had even that short time in the same space.

I’ve known Jone since grade school. I always considered her one of the most talented people I knew, even as a child she could do everything well. My father thought she was a sweetheart and she always held a special place in his heart too. She wrote me the most thoughtful letter at his passing. Typical of her. She is a beautiful, kind and giving person. Our last conversation was bragging about grandchildren. She adored hers!!! She will be missed so much.

JJ I am missing you already. Our visits were a precious time together! Hailey, Jone and I both agreed that a parent never ever knows “true Love” until their first child. The girls were the bonus to that. Lee and Sonja, she was such a gifted person in so many ways. I learned more by her listening to others, than by talking. Todd she was so happy you were together.

I met Jone and family when they lived on Pine St. The baseball games at the Catholic Church were the most spontaneous congregations of fun us kids had. My condolences go out to the whole family. A little piece of Blackfoot has been lost, let’s always remember her. She was a beautiful human being.

Joan Jett is what I called her. She worked with my Mom at the paper in Blackfoot so I've known Joan a very long time. I am thankful I was able to call her my friend. I lost touch with her as is what sometimes happens with friends. But she will always have a place in my heart. You will be missed Joan Jett!!
