Lance Quick Obituary

Lance Allen Quick
November 9, 1978 - December 14, 2018
Lance Allen Quick passed away Friday, December 14, 2018 in Pocatello, Idaho, the cause and manner of his death are yet to be determined as it is under investigation.
Born on November 9, 1978 in Pocatello, Idaho to Kim and Shauna Moser Quick, he was the middle child and would refer to himself as being the best part of the "Oreo" the middle.
He attended Syringa Elementary, Alameda Jr. High, and graduated in 1997 from Highland High School in Pocatello. He participated in and loved wrestling, throughout Junior and Senior High School, qualifying and going to the State Tournament as a senior.
He started working while in high school at Albertson Food Store and Red Lobster. He was called to and served an honorable mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from December 3rd 1997 to November 3rd 1999 in Fresno, California. Upon returning he attended ISU off and on for a few years.
His love and goal was to become a Firefighter (like his father and maternal grandfather). He worked at the old Pocatello Hospital, City of Chubbuck Fire Department and as a waiter at Red Lobster again, before he tested and became a Firefighter for the City of Idaho Falls. He worked there from 2003 to 2007 until he was diagnosed with PTSD. He returned to Pocatello and worked for a short time at Bingham County as a Probation Officer. Lance also had his own business selling Techni Ice, worked for FedEx and several other endeavors. He was diagnosed as also being bipolar and gave everything he could to live life dealing with the illness within a broken mental health system and many other entities. In the spring of 2016 he became a certified home inspector and started Superior Home Inspections LLC. He was happy to have his own business and enjoyed working with people in the industry and growing business.
Lance loved his service dog, a Chocolate Lab "Bear" and Bear loved and cared for him.
He is survived by his parents Kim and Shauna; brothers, Ryan (Shelese), Shane (Elizabeth); sisters, Audra (Eric) Ladwig and Abby (Abel) Chaparro.; nieces and nephews (that he loved so very much), Cameron, Carson, Shaylee, Connor, McKenna, Skyler, Tristen, Brenen, Griffin, Adasyn and Paige, Bridger, Boston and Oaklee; paternal grandfather, LeRoy Quick; many aunts, uncles, cousins and so very many special people, friends that knew and cared about and loved him.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Audrey and Emil Moser, and paternal grandmother, Peggie Quick.
The family requests that instead of flowers or plants, donations be made in honor of Lance to a memorial account at any Idaho Central Credit Union Branch, to help his parents begin a foundation to improve mental health care in our community.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 2140 Satterfield Drive in Pocatello. A viewing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Wilks Funeral Home 211 W. Chubbuck Road. Interment will follow services on Saturday in the Malad City Cemetery. I just found out about the news, i am terribly sorry for the loss you have gone through. While Lance serve in the Fresno Mission he taught me The Gospel and baptized me. When i serve i reached out to him to let him know i was going and through his efforts teaching me i was able to teach many others. I am grateful for his service and had the opportunity to tell him in several lengthy conversations about The Gospel. Rest in Peace brother. Til we meet again!

I taught Lance when he was in Primary. He was the only one in the class so I know it was very awkward for him. He tried hard to have discussions with me about the lesson. I talked to the bishop about him feeling awkward but his positive attitude. The bishop moved him up to an older class so he had friends. He always gave me a special smile to let me know he was happier with friends. So sorry for the Quick family. Our prayers are with you. Anita Willie
