Rodney (Rod) Jones was born in Pocatello, ID, to William (Bill) Borah Jones and Delores Jones March 14, 1949. He was a 1967 graduate of Pocatello High School. His family built and ran the Crest Theatre in Pocatello where Rod spent many hours working and watching movies. At the age of 12 he went to Sun Valley for a ski race and forever fell in love with Bald Mountain. He graduated from the University of Idaho in 1971 with a degree in economics. Thereafter, moving to Sun Valley working as a night clerk for the Sun Valley Co. He later moved to Seattle, WA., where he met his wife, Kimberley, married in 1989,and had a daughter Morgan Leigh Jones in the spring of 1994. In 1996 they moved back to Ketchum, where Rod went back to selling real estate and working full time as a ski instructor. Rod loved spending time with his daughter, Morgan, and made sure she became a skillful downhill skier and could hold her own on a mountain bike. In the fall of 2013 he was diagnosed with Stage 4 neuroendocrine cancer which eventually took his life.

Rod is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kimberley Jones, daughter, Morgan Jones (William Young), of Seattle; brother Bill Jones (Cassie), of Hailey. He leaves behind many wonderful cousins throughout Idaho, Canada, and Spain in addition to his many friends.

It gives me great sadness to hear of Rodney's passing. My condolences to the Jones family and may he rest in peace.

I remember Bill and Rodney when they lived above the Crest theatre. I lived just directly across the street from the theatre. My brother Danny and Laddie worked for Mr. Jones. Fortunately we sold our house in 1960 and moved the lot is now just a parking lot. I lost contact with the Jones boys and always wondered what happened to Bill and Rodney after their parents passed.
