1939-2018
Bill Basye passed away at his home in Eagle, ID, Wednesday, October 17, 2018, with his wife of 60 years, Dottie Basye, at his side. A celebration of Bill's life and faith will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Friendship Celebration Lutheran Church, 765 W. Chinden Blvd, Meridian, ID 83646. Bill was a member of the United States Marine Corps Reserves.
Bill and Dottie were long-time residents of McCall, Idaho where they owned and operated Bills Grocery for over 30 years and raised their 3 sons, Michael, John and David and a daughter, Lisa. They opened their hearts and home to a number of children throughout the years. Acknowledging the need for more adequate foster care in Valley County, the idea of the Shepherd's Home came to fruition. The home was built with a lot of love, faith and hard work and now provides a loving home for children in crisis.
Those close to Bill knew his faith was strong, his love unconditional, his patience endless and his advise was always good and given without judgment.
He worked hard everyday of his life, loved to tell a good joke, smoke a good cigar, drink a good glass of wine and Boise State Football. He enjoyed fishing and shared that passion with each of his children and grandchildren. Bill also enjoyed woodworking and amazed us all with the clocks he made.
During the last years of Bill's life he endured more than most, but he kept his sense of humor and maintained his unwavering faith in the Lord. Bill will truly be missed. Bill is survived by his wife, Dottie, sons; Michael (Katrina), John (Marleen), David (Kim), daughter Lisa, grandchildren; Tanner, Matt, Danielle, Dalton, Malori, Destry, Nikole, his great-grandchildren, brothers Jack and Larry, sister Connie and extended family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Shepherd's Home, PO Box 2011 McCall, ID 83638, shepherds-home.org.

Just learned of Bill's passing when Googling his name. Bill and Dottie gave me a first start way back when at their 7-11 in Imperial Beach. Two wonderful people. May your family be blessed in love into eternity. Thank you always.

My heart is so Sad, we are all going too miss you so much Bill, you and Dottie have been such a big part of our family's life's for so many years . I remember that day that you were the one that gave me away to my husband 22 year's ago, And you told him, here you go Donald, I'm given her to you and I don't want her back !!! ... My heart is sad today but heaven is a greater place with Bill there now. His constant smile and words of wisdom will truly be missed. Prayers to the entire family in that comfort is found in each other and in Jesus.

What an amazing couple. They taught me so much about the Shepherds Home and helped back me in my work with the Home. They were the example of how we should all be and the reason we are here. Bill will be missed but he will live through Dottie and continue on. Dottie, we love you. Tanya Masterson
