Billy, I am so sad to see this obituary. He was so very strong. I remember one night he came out and told me he was going to shoot the buzzard in that cherry tree for eating all his sweet cherries. After that when I came to town he reminded me of that incident.he was a special part of my life as were you and Bobby. Still remember that wonderful laugh. My prayers and love are with you and your family.

Herman "Dutch" was my father and my mentor. He was one of the original fix it men. I think he could come up with a solution to any problem or any item that broke. He definitely lived a life of hard physical labor. He lived through more than two years in the 776th Tank destroyer Battallion in WWII. Their unit worked their way through North Africa, Italy and France. He was a medic so I cannot imagine some of the things he was witness to. He told me when he returned from WWII they built their first septic tank by hand and installed their first indoor toilet and bath. As kid growing up, their community used to convoy horse drawn wagons from Wilder to Ola idaho to gather wood for heating the house in the winter and cooking all year round. While working at Idaho Power most of his career was working as a transmission (high voltage) lineman and foreman. There were not near as many bucket trucks back then so climbing was a frequent task. There was also a lot of drilling and blasting holes for power poles and steel towers. When it came to steel towers he was like a kid with a giant Erector set. Dad became the Scout Master of our Boy Scout troop when the prior scout master retired. My dad was the acting Scout Master of Boise Troop 77 until my brother and I both recieved our Eagle Scout awards. He took the troop on camp outs and used his vacation time to take the troop to summer camp in McCall. Dad took us hunting, fishing and camping and taught us the value of a dollar. He is finally getting the rest that he so greatly deserves and has been reunited with friends and family that have passed before him. "May the Great Scout Master of all Scouts be with us till me meet again". I love you dad, thank you for everything you did for me, our family and anyone else whose lives you touched.
