James Cherry Obituary

James "Jim" Mitchell Cherry

January 7, 2024

Kuna, Idaho - James "Jim" Mitchell Cherry passed away from natural causes at his home in Kuna, Idaho on Sunday, January 7, 2024. Jim was the youngest of four children born to parents Albert Cherry and Lora Jean Harris Cherry in Caldwell, Idaho on August 24, 1954.

Jim grew up in Sand Hollow, north of Caldwell and attended Middleton School before heading to Ricks College. He always had a very adept mind and during these years he used his mechanical talents to build or fix just about anything.

Hard work was also a characteristic of Jim showed from a young age and he spent many years of his career exploring all the different areas where he could use it to excel. Often pursuing more than one profession at a time, Jim worked at a dairy, raised pheasants for commercial use, worked 25 years at Albertson's and finished his career with 20 years in Incident Response where he was highly commended by many of the people he helped during the long hours he worked.

After decades of dedication, Jim enjoyed being retired and loved planning travel adventures for he and his wife Kathy to explore other states and countries. He spent much of his time researching, building, and fixing cars as well as scouting his next car project with a particular interest in Corvettes. He loved sharing his interest in music and movies with loved ones; as well as his love of good food, especially nachos, and attending family functions where he could catch up with family members and make sure they had everything they needed.

Jim will be fondly remembered for how deeply he loved his large family, especially his beloved wife Kathy, who he married on December 5, 2010. He was completely devoted to her and took great pride in making sure she was taken care of. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brother Blaine. He is survived by his devoted wife, Kathy, stepdaughters Lori (Mark) Lapp and Chris (John) Cuyler, sisters Patricia Campbell, Kaye (Bob) Campbell, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
