Jayne Chase Obituary

Jayne Chase
May 8, 1931 - January 2, 2021
Meridian, Idaho - Jayne Suzanne Chase (Nelson)
May 8, 1931 - January 2, 2021
Jayne Suzanne Chase (Nelson) 89, passed peacefully at 7:35 am, January 2, 2021. Her local children were with her throughout the night to love and comfort her. Jayne was born on May 8, 1931 to Harry and Mava Mae Nelson in St. James, Minnesota where her father owned and operated the Princess Theater.
Jayne was a talented young lady excelling in voice, piano, tap, and ballet. She took years of lessons and performed throughout her younger years at many venues. Jayne was always dressed in elaborate hand-sewn costumes for every performance. She mastered the piano, singing and performing at many recitals for family, friends, and community and in her church choirs. In high school, Jayne was the drum majorette for the St. James High School band.
Jayne married Jerry Welchlin from Fairmont, Minnesota in 1949 having two children, Georgia and Mark. Jayne later married Jim Stoltenberg also from Fairmont, with whom she had three
children, Carol, Jay, and Jack. While raising her now five children as a single mother, Jayne met an amazing man, Don Chase, a father of five children himself, who later lovingly married Jayne and adopted all five of her children making him a father of ten children.
When Don's job transferred him in 1966 from Wayzata, MN, Jayne, Don and her five children all moved to Boise, Idaho. Shortly thereafter Don's five children, Steve, Mike, Mary, Cathy, and Elizabeth joined their father and new five brothers and sisters making a family of ten children. Jayne lovingly welcomed her new step-children into the family. Jayne was a full-time mom, community volunteer, school volunteer, beauty queen and best mom ever to all of her children. We were always so proud to have our mom along with our dad show up at our school activities to support and cheer us on. And we really loved it when our friends said our mom was so beautiful.
We enjoyed many summers in McCall as young adults with our families and mom and dad at Tamarack Bay. Mom had more energy and passion for life and could out dance anyone on the dance floor. She was a natural due to her innate talents and her numerous years of dance, ballet, and roller skating.
Jayne's love of dance and ballet led her to a job teaching and managing a Linkletter Totten Dance Studio in Minnesota. While living in McCall, Don and Jayne owned and operated the Yacht
Club. She worked tirelessly alongside Don doing whatever needed to be done. Jayne was a great hostess making all customers feel welcome and appreciated. Restaurant life got into her blood so back in Boise, she worked at Edwards in Garden City, and the Radio Room, owned and managed by her son, Jack.
Jayne was a vivacious soul, not one to complain no matter what situation she encountered throughout her 89 years of life. She made the best of every challenging situation put in front of her. Jayne was dedicated to her community volunteering at the Nampa State School and Hospital, often fostering learning challenged children at home. She later served in leadership roles for Easterseals Goodwill Northern Rocky Mountain, Inc.
Jayne was strong, resilient, dignified, classy, compassionate, and proud of her family, loving her children unconditionally. We will always remember our mother for her unselfish love for us,
her family and friends. Mom will remain close in our hearts for eternity.
Mom leaves behind her children, step-children, grand-children, great grandchildren and many friends that she loved dearly as they did her. Rest in Peace Sweet Mama. . .until we meet
again.
A celebration of our mother's life will be held at a later date at Cloverdale Creekside Cremation Garden where her urn will be placed. Thank you to Bowman Funeral Home for their services.
Mom loved cats so in lieu of flowers, donations to Simply Cats in Boise would truly warm her soul.

Jayne was a wonderful grandmother and great grandmother. She showed her support by attending school events (most rather boring I might add), birthdays, and graduations. Her shoulder was always available to cry on or share your story with. She was the best dressed grandma who was beautiful inside and out. She would have done anything she could for family (even sell them her car and house). Her love for cooking was put to good use, especially her goulash and tuna salad (my mouth is watering just thinking about them). She wasn't afraid to speak her mind and always had us cracking up. We love you gg and will miss you greatly!
