Emma and family,
I know where John got his early riser tendencies. He and I had paper routes in Boise when he was growing up. He had 15th street and I had 14th street. We both walked together every morning at 4 am for several years to where the papers were dropped off. If one of us should accidentally oversleep, the other was always there to wake him up. I started out as John's backup for when he went on vacation and then got the route on 14th.
I saw him at the BHS 30th year reunion and we shared many of these memories. He told me about his life in California and how much he loved it there.
You also should know that he was a great baseball player in little leagues. He played third base and was a strong power hitter usually batting third or fourth in the lineup.
Finally, I appreciate the picture. That smile is what I will always remember.
