Julie Gauby Obituary

Julie Ann Gauby
November 7, 1967-June 4, 2014
Julie Ann Gauby, 46, died Wedesday, June 4, after a 2 year battle with cancer.
Julie was the first of 4 daughters born to Ben and Judy Smith on November 7, 1967. She expertly blazed a trail through elementary and junior high, and graduated from Capital High School in 1986. From student council to Capital Singers, varsity track to paper routes, Julie was the consummate over-achiever. Her passion for caring for others developed early on, as she effortlessly swayed from big sister to second mother as each of her younger sisters were born. Upon graduation, the neighborhood's favorite babysitter left the nest and embarked on a two year adventure as a nanny in Boston, MA. While she was away, her high school sweetheart, Jeff Gauby, was on his own quest for adventure, and by some cosmic prophecy, after several years apart, both decided to return home. On July 21, 1990, Jeff and Julie married, timed precisely around Julie getting her braces off just one week prior.
Julie officially became a mother in 1992 when her son Austin Michael was born. Because he turned out SO well, Julie was eager and excited to add to her nest. Daughter Caitlin Ashley, Julie's pride and joy, was born in 1994, followed by everybody's favorite little brother, Mason Andrew in 1997. Julie was so proud of her children, and her love and legacy will live on through them.
Julie is survived by her husband, Jeff; children Austin, Caitlin, and Mason; grandson Hudson Jude Gauby; parents Ben and Judy Smith; in-laws Martin and Edith Gauby; sisters Megan (Matt) Cox, Jennifer (Tony) Luchini, and Allison (Jason) Blue. Julie is also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, 2nd cousins, 3rd cousins, cousins' cousins, in-laws, foster children, nanny families, and friends. So many friends. Our family would like to thank Dr. Alluri, his nurse Sharon, and the entire staff at MSTI for their expert and compassionate care, Jeff's brother Sid Gauby, and her aunt and uncle, Jen and Bob Dilgard who provided so much support and love on the night she passed. Finally, we would like to thank Julie's church family at The Pursuit, who loved on her so beautifully, and fed her spirit with hope.
Julie's life will be CELEBRATED on Saturday, June 21st, 11:00 am, at The Pursuit West 6151 N. Discovery Way, Boise, Idaho 83713. This world is not our home; we are looking forward to our everlasting home in heaven. Hebrews 13:14

I was crying and you were laughing. Even in the middle of the fight of your life you comforted me...as you have so many others who have had the honor of walking in this life alongside you at different times. Heaven surely was dancing with open arms to welcome home one of their most precious angles! I will miss you!

I remember Julie so well back at Capital High School when she was in the choir there. I was fortunate to be her choir teacher. She loved being in Capital Singers and I loved having her there. She provided just the right amount of friendliness, laughter, good humor, dedication, love and joy. I know that she fought her battle with the same beautiful spirit that I saw in her in those early years. I am so sad that Julie is gone, but I am so grateful that I knew her. My heart is with her family. With love from, Linda Schmidt

Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. Proverbs 22:6
Thank you Julie for being so selfless and sacrificing your time for children and others. You were the absent mother for children who were needing so much love and care and you loved them just as you would your own. You are an amazing woman. I will remember you always as such a light and inspiration, especially to children.
Highest respect,
Jenn Martinez

I didn't know Julie as well as I knew Jeff and Austin, but what I did know and what I did hear, Julie was an amazing person. Her family and foster children are blessed to have received her love and to have had her in their lives. My condolences to Jeff, her children, and the rest of her family.

Julie,
You were an amazing woman! You were there for me and put up with me during a time in my life I needed a positive mother figure. I'll always remember when they first brought Sam and I to your home. I'll always remember taking the last $5 out of your purse while waiting in the van for you to take me to school. Then getting in trouble and never wanting to steal from someone else again. You didn't put up with my bull I tried pulling as a 13 year old trouble teen and for that I thank you . I was blessed to call you my foster Mom. You had a heart of gold. I wish I would have gotten to see you in the last few years. My heart aches for your family during this tough time though I know you are in a better place free if the pain and sickness, walking with The Lord. Have fun up there in Heaven. We'll see you again one day. <3 Kassie
