I came as a visiting author to the middle school where Julio was principal, many years ago. He did what he had done many times before, all the way back to the time I was a 123 pound third-string freshman guard on the Cascade football team...he elevated me. Julio had a way of making us all feel proud of ourselves, no matter our status. That puts him in rare air.

I loved hearing the stories and remembrances of Julio. It just scratched the surface of his character. The legacy he left will be far- reaching. Love to the family. Praying for you all.

We were sorry to hear about Julio's death. We would visit many times when Julio made it to Cascade to check on the fences at Bilbao ranch. We will miss those visits, but we believe that he is knocking heaven's doors. May God Bless Julie and the Bilbao Family.

My sincerest sympathy to Julie and family at the loss that was the full life of Julio. He was the principal at Hillside Jr. High and hired me in 1990. I felt he supported his staff and encouraged them to grow as professionals. He and Julie showed us love, caring, and commitment. God bless you all.

I absolutely loved going to Mr Bilbao´s class. I remember one class period he said he loved guessing nationalities by last names. He called on me and I was so impressed that he guessed right. Oh course with last name Funk there wasn´t much guess work. I learned so much in his class. My deepest condolences to the whole family. He was a wonderful and beloved teacher. RIP Mr Bilbao.

Julio...when it comes to ex-Ramblers, you were simply the best of us; always exactly what you appeared to be, always supportive at least one 123 pound guard with cleat marks on my chest and grass stains on my back to prove it. Man, we all wanted to BE you.
