Larry Labrum Obituary
Larry Neil Labrum, 85, of Boise, Idaho, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026, surrounded by his loving family in his home in Saratoga Springs, Utah, on the serene shores of the lake.
Larry was born on December 22, 1940, in Boise, Idaho, the eldest of three children of Neil G. Labrum (1909–2000) and Zola Caroline (Borup) Labrum (1914–2006). He grew up in the Boise Bench area, where he formed close friendships that would last a lifetime. He attended Boise High School and Borah High School before serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in France and Belgium-an experience that would shape him for the rest of his life, deepen his faith, and provide a lifetime of fond memories.
After returning home, Larry attended Boise Junior College (now Boise State University) before transferring to the University of Utah, where he earned a degree in Accounting (earning his CPA) - though he would soon find his true interest in Marketing.
On September 13, 1965, Larry married Sylvia Davison (born in Belfast, Northern Ireland) in the Salt Lake City Temple, where they were sealed for time and all eternity by a close friend of his father, Howard W. Hunter. Together they built a life centered on family, raising three children who were the pride of his life. Sylvia stood by him through the long twilight of his final years, caring for him with love and inspiring devotion.
Larry's career took him across the West. In Boise, he worked for Ore-Ida Foods and Dean Witter. His career interests then carried him to Salt Lake City and San Francisco, where he studied for and passed the required exams to become a licensed stockbroker and financial advisor. He later moved to Idaho Falls, where he worked for several companies, including French's potato division-a role he always spoke of fondly. He eventually returned to Utah, settling in Saratoga Springs, where he would spend his later years.
Larry was happiest and found joy in the company of those he loved. He was an avid fly fisherman and pheasant hunter, and few things brought him greater joy than watching his children and grandchildren play sports. There was hardly a game or sports event that he missed. He was a man of quiet devotion to his family and his faith.
Larry also found great joy in the arts, music, and cinema. He ingrained in his children early on a love for music, ranging from the loudest of rock and roll to the masters of classical, to the beauty of the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square. He loved attending concerts with his family, and if a world-renowned tenor or artist came to Salt Lake City, Dad wanted to be there. His love for the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square was a lifelong emotion, starting before his mission and lasting until those last few peaceful moments before passing on, with the Tabernacle Choir playing quietly in the background.
Larry's passing has left a profound silence where there once was a comforting and familiar song. He is loved deeply; his absence aches, not in a way that words can do justice for, but in the emptiness felt when the music you've loved your entire life plays its final note - and you realize nothing will ever sound quite the same.
Larry was preceded in death by his sister, Janice Caroline Jeppson (Labrum), and his brother, Dennis Labrum. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia (Davison) Labrum; his children, Brian Larry Labrum (Sherry), Kristi Alana Labrum, and Darren Robert Labrum; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 10:00 am, at the Pelican Bay Ward, 168 E Wayside Dr, Saratoga Springs, Utah, where a Viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:00 to 9:45 am. Interment will take place in the East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery.
