Leonard Thomas Obituary

Thomas Our beloved LaVern has joined the Teamsters in heaven. He'll be driving six White Freightliner horses and we'll hope they have enough horsepower to suit him. He loved his family, his friends and his trucks. He was born July 12, 1930 in Weiser, Idaho to L.B. and Maymie Thomas. He attended school in Cambridge, Idaho. He served in the Army from 1951 to 1953. On Nov. 8, 1953 he married Dixie Stover at Council, Idaho. He resided in Cambridge Idaho until 1966 and was self employed in the cattle hauling business. He then was employed in logging with Boise Cascade Corp. until 1995. After trying to retire he found himself missing his trucks and was employed with Anderson Wood construction in Meridian, Idaho until Jan 1,2006. His favorite pastime was to go to Eddie's Restaurant where all his buddies hang out. So much pleasure he enjoyed there. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dixie of Boise, his son Darrren (Carolyn) of Temecula, Calif., son Bernie (Lesa) of Boise, son Brent of Boise, daughter Merri (Craig) of Woodlawn, Tenn., granddaughter Crista Thomas, grandsons Matthew Thomas, Kyle Thomas and Chad Gardunia. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, John, infant daughter in 1964 and infant grandson in 2005. Special thanks to Meridian MSTI and Life's Doors hospice. Memorial service will be held Saturday June 10, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. at Cloverdale Funeral Home. ServIces are under the direction of Cloverdale Funeral Home.

Dixie and Family,

Our day always became brighter when you and LaVern came into the clinic. It was a delight to get to know both of you and hear the stories about your family. You were always so interested in us, too. LaVern's illness was a burden, but what a blessing for us to have both of you come into our lives! Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Love, the MSTI Chemo Infusion Staff

~~Dixie and family~~

We're so sorry for your loss. As friends and neighbors I know my step-dad (Bill) and Vern shared MANY stories together. Now I know they are both up there looking down with even greater stories to be told. May your many memories comfort you at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Vern was a friend that was always there with that happy trucker smile. He knew how to remember all the funny stories to tell. We will all remember Vern with his smiling face.

LaVern, wer'e all gonna miss that shyster smile you'd give just before you had some sort of profound wisdom to give everyone!!

Top loading on your truck in the 70's for BC was always interesting and you were always helpful, THANKS.

Dad and myself, Bill Watson and hundreds of others are sure gonna miss you at the truckstops.

Dixie & Family, Our deepest sympathy at Vern's passing. He helped me thru drivers training in the 70's by giving me rides home to Idaho City after my classes in Boise[don't tell any of the BC Truck Bosses!]. Also a friend & coffee buddy to my dad, Chuck Morgan. Loved to see that twinkle in Vern's eyes...he always had it!! He made you smile. Vern will be missed!

Best to all of you, Deb & Bill Watson, Chuck and Ann Morgan.

LaVern could tell a story as well as Mark Twain. And with an twinkle in his eye, would look to see how much you believed. But LaVern would be the first one to help someone in need, and offer the shirt off his back. We will miss you Bull Pine.

Bernie and family, sorry to hear of your loss. Your dad always had a great story to tell every time I would see him. Especially enjoyed his logging truck experiences. I had many occasions in the 70s to see him on the road or in the log yard when I was driving for my granddad. He always had some advice for the kid!! He was definately one of a kind and will be missed by all.
