Linda Chandler Obituary

Linda Christine Chandler
1951 - 2018
Our lovely angel "Lin" succumbed to metastatic cancer of the gallbladder on September 16th, 2018.
If angels truly exist on earth, then Lin positively floated among them. She had an inner strength that was absolutely incredible and showed all of us who loved her and got to know her just what the meaning of "grace" was.
Born in Baltimore to wonderful parents, Clarence ("Roy") and Genevieve ("Jenny") Harman on October 9, 1951, Lin lived in Baltimore up to the middle of her senior year in high school before her father was transferred to Phoenix for a new position at Western Electric. Soon after high school, she married and had the daughter (Heather) she always wanted. A few years later, she moved to Florida, and while raising Heather and working, she attended Nova University. But big bugs, humidity, hurricanes, and a car accident that almost killed her, prompted her to move to the northwest. In Boise, she eventually landed a job at Micron Technology, where she met her husband Wm. Blaine Chandler in 1985.
Lin and her mom were like two peas in a pod. They loved going out to lunch, shopping and going to movies. And wherever they would go, waiters and waitresses would recognize them and would greet them with hugs and kisses. It was absolutely amazing how many people who worked in restaurants across town knew the two of them.
She was a voracious reader, and for many years loved her book club and all the ladies involved. In particular Linda D. and Patti B., but she loved one and all. They were especially drawn to Lin's sense of humor and quick wit; which made the book club monthly get-togethers a real joy.
Being very artistic and a wonderful cook, Lin also could sew just about anything. Her husband immensely appreciated how she managed to repair just about every piece of climbing and recreational clothing he had over the years.
As a big city girl, her husband introduced her to backpacking and camping… but that never really took off. But she did become Scuba certified. While diving in Cozumel/Cancun in the 80's, she tried parasailing for the first time. Since "air" was her element, she absolutely loved it. Even to the point of exclaiming: "We have to get one of these!!!" Which of course she did. And speaking of air, she was invited by the CEO of Micron to go for a ride in his acrobatic plane in the late 90's. They performed all of the stunts that Steve did in his shows. When they landed, she had a grin ear to ear and said it was the best ride of her life. Steve even said "she did better than anyone" that he ever took up in his plane. She was assertively "Top Gun" material.
Lin loved all animals and over the years, rescued many small birds, squirrels, and other little critters. She was especially fond of her big dogs: Morgan, Grover, Harvey (named after her favorite movie), and Cairo.
Many special thanks, goes to oncologist Dr. Dan Zuckerman and his staff at MSTI. And to Lin's neurologist Dr. James Herrold, who was a real advocate for Lin as she dealt with the complications of Myasthenia-gravis for almost 20 years. And to all the nurses at Option Care who fought over the chance to come and see Lin and administer her IV's. Especially to Deb, Carrie, and Bonnie. Deb referred to Lin as "sweet lovely Linda." And Carrie was so kind to Lin that she made her a beautiful quilt that Lin just treasured.
She is survived by her loving husband Blaine of 33 years, her daughter Heather and her husband Rod Nolan, her mother Jenny, her brother Mark and his wife Patti (who was one of Lin's BFF's) and their family, and several nieces and nephews.
Lin was such a wonderful mother, daughter, sister, wife, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend to so many, that she will be so deeply, deeply missed by all of us, including very close friends Navjot and Punita, Natalia and David… and many others who quickly realized just how special Lin was. Memories of her will be profoundly and forever cherished.
A private gathering of family and close friends will take place on Sunday, September 30th.
