Marianne Summers, 74, of Emmett died at home Monday, May 31, 2010, after a brief illness. Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 211 E 1st Street, in Emmett on Friday, June 4, at 10:30 a.m. A rosary will be said in her honor, Thursday evening, 7:30 p.m., at Sacred Heart. She attended Emmett schools, receiving her high school GED in October 1962 at 27 years of age. She attended Boise Junior College, taking several certified secretarial courses, before changing careers and graduating from Boise State University in the fall of 1975 with her LPN degree. She then began her 21 year career at the Boise Veteran's Hospital, where she worked until retirement in 1996. On Feb. 10, 1952 she married Keith Anderson, whom she later divorced. On Dec. 13, 1973, she married Dale Summers. Marianne loved boating and camping with family, supporting her grandchildren's various activities, her pets, her flowers, and gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dale Summers, her eldest daughter, Debbie Buck, three brothers: Elvador, Pete, and Edward, and three sisters: Lois, Violet, and Velda. She is survived by her son Elvador (Tonya) of Emmett, and daughters: Chris Jack, Meridian, Donna (Jerry) Nasker, Boise, and Lois (Rod) Huber, Eagle, LaNette Summers, Idaho Falls, and Cheryl (Patrick) Frederick, Harleysville, Pa. She leaves a legacy of 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. The family would like to sincerely thank Horizon Home Health and Hospice, their staff, especially Chris and Sue, and all the special people who made it possible for her to stay at home, most especially Debbie and the Gem County Senior's Meals on Wheels program. Donations in her memory may be made to the BSU Friends of Nursing program, or the Gem County Pet Adoption League.

Chris, Donna, Lois, Elvador and familiy, I am so sorry for the loss of your mom. I didn't find out she had passed away until yesterday afternoon and then I didn't find when the services were until this morning. So needless to say I am missing the services today. I really wish I could have been there. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you. My heart aches for you all. I know she will be missed. Love Vianne
