Renae Simmonsen Obituary

Renae Jeanette Simmonsen, 28, passed away October 24, 2010 of natural causes while visiting her brother in Louisiana. Renae was born on November 10, 1981 in Boise, Idaho. She attended Ridgewood and Silver Sage Elementary, Lake Hazel Middle School and graduated from Meridian High School in 2000. She proudly attended the University of Idaho and was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority. She graduated in 2004 with a Fashion Marketing Degree which led her to Dallas, Texas to pursue her dreams, becoming an Assistant Buyer at J.C Penney Corporation. Her enthusiasm showed in everything she did and she loved her job. One of the many highlights of her career was this summer when she met Tim Gunn at a fashion launch. Her years in high school and college were the foundation for an amazing following of friends that have been in her life ever since. Anyone that knew Renae knew she was determined to get all that she could out of life. She wanted to be a part of every celebration and holiday and was there in the middle to contribute whatever she could loyally and without need or want of recompense. She was a strong supporter of the men and women of our armed forces, and made frequent visits to Fort Polk Louisiana. Though she lived in Texas for a short amount of time she inspired and accumulated many new friends that became her Texas family. She was proud to make the Lone Star state her home away from home. Every member of her family was very important to her, and she connected with them in every way she could. She is survived by her parents Marty and Diane, her brother Chris, her grandparents Tweet and Wes, 5 uncles, 4 aunts, 8 cousins and 9 second cousins. Memorial services will be held at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, 5400 Fairview, on Friday, November 5th at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers please contribute to your favorite charity.

Renae was warmly welcomed into our circle friends from the minute she landed in Texas, just as we were to hers. She laughed often and carried her heart on her sleeve. Family, friends, and loved ones are left behind while an Angel of heaven returns home too soon, and we're lucky that we had the chance to know her.

Family and friends of Renae, please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers during this diffucult time. I was friends with Renae in high school and remember her as a bright, happy, friendly person; someone you looked forward to seeing in class or in the hall way. We had some great and memorable times in 9th grade drama, where we met. Her laugh and smile are what drew me to want to get to know her. My condolences to you all.

I first have to admit that I wan't close with Renae. I went to school with her for seven years as a kid, though I wouldn't call us "friends", and we had little contact after high school despite the fact that we both went to UI. But seeing her at the Meridian High reunion reminded me that it was her eyes and her smile that spoke for her, even after all of those years. She was immediately warm and friendly after years of no contact. But her eyes and her smile brought back many memories of youthful days gone by when her voice would ring out in the hallway, and they were always kind. I didn't know you well Renae, but I am sad that you are gone.

So sorry for you lose. Renae was a very special person. I first met Renae on a mother’s weekend at U of I, she was my son's (Steven Baker) big sister. After meeting her I knew that she would make a big difference in the world. She had a smile that warmed your heart, and a personality that took charge. The world lost an angel on earth when God took her home.

Diane & Marty, I am so very sorry to hear about the loss of your daughter. Although I never met her, if she was anything like her Mother (Diane, my dearest closest friend when growing up in our puberty years), than she had to be a real angel. My thoughts and prayers are with you both and may she be in the arms of Jesus right now.
