Thomas Duerr, 69, died suddenly in Sweet Home, Oregon at his second home. He was born in Lorenzo, Idaho to Tom and Zita Duerr.
He lived in Ogden, Utah, then Santa Ana, California, on to Seattle, Washington and finally Boise, Idaho.
At age 17, he enlisted in the US Navy, and served on the USS Ticonderoga. After completing his 3 year hitch, he married the love of his life, Peggy Brady, in 1968. They were married 48 years and were blessed with a daughter, Helen, of whom he was very proud.
He was employed at Economy Mattress, Security Industries, Consolidated Supply, City of Boise, and Idaho Historical Society at the Old Idaho Penitentiary. At each of his jobs, he honed his skills as a building maintenance craftsman. He went out of his way try to help or cheer those he liked. He always tried to see the good side of everything in life.
After Helen was grown, he and his wife Peggy spent many years camping in their jeep, travel trailers, and van. They traveled for over 10 years on their Honda Gold Wing both solo and with a motorcycle club. They toured the Northwest and spent time on the Oregon Coast. They also had many adventures raising cattle in Emmett, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Zita Duerr, and sister, LaNea Lovellette.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy; daughter, Helen Duerr Sullivan; and his brother, Brent Duerr (Pat).
Services will be held on March 18, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 Horseshoe Bend Road, Boise, Idaho. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Idaho Pizza Company, 78 Eagle River Street, Eagle, Idaho.
