HERBERT RYAN Obituary
Age 89, of Hartville, died Thursday May 20, 2021 following an extended illness. Born in Detroit, MI, he was raised in Norwalk, OH and lived in the Canton area most of his adult life. He was a 1949 graduate of Norwalk High School, a 1954 graduate of Kent State University, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from National Gypsum Mfg. in 1990. His memberships include St. Peter Catholic Church, the Hall of Fame Luncheon Club, the North Canton Elks #2029 where he served as a past Exalted Ruler, A.A.R.P. and the American Legion Canton Post #44.
He is survived by his wife, Jean (Goss) Ryan of the home; son, Kevin (Luisa) Tubbs of Santa Theresa, NM; daughters: Karen (David) Willinger of Mt. Hollyspring, PA, Kathryn (Gary) Miller of Norton, OH; step-sons: Tim (Patty) Myers of North Canton, Tom (Julie) Myers of North Canton; step-daughters, Patti (Rick) Caley of North Canton, Janel (Tom) Newell of Alpharetta, GA; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth (Klein) Ryan who died in 1989.
Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday at 11:00 am in St. Peter Catholic Church with the Very Reverend John E. Sheridan STL as celebrant. Burial with committal service will be held on Thursday at 10:30 am in Woodlawn Cemetery, 200 Woodlawn Ave., Norwalk, OH. 44857. Friends may call Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 am in the Wackerly Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the staff at Allay Senior Care and Aultman Hospital for their compassion and care.
