HONEA PATH, SC-
Michael Barry McKinsey, age 48, loving husband and best friend of Leise McKinsey, passed away on October 14, 2011.
Born November 5, 1962, in Fort Lauderdale, FL, he was a son of the late Edith Virginia Franks McKinsey. He was a 1982 graduate of Belton-Honea Path High School. He was a wildlife videographer for Realtree Outdoors and an award winning taxidermist. He was an avid hunter.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Leise Chasteen McKinsey, son, Nicholas Hawkins and his wife, Viridiana of Lexington, SC, daughter, Taylor Hawkins of Greenville, SC, brother, Paul McKinsey, of Anderson, SC, sister, Debbie McGaha of Honea Path, SC, mother-in-law, Mary Chasteen, several nephews and nieces: Shannon, Jared, Amanda, Tony Wayne, Megan, Colt, Savannah, and Micah, his beloved pets: Mini Aussie - Chloe, Papillion - Scooter, and his newly acquired rescued kitten- Bandit.
In addition to his mother he was predeceased by a brother, Wayne McKinsey.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by the Reverend Dr. Mitch Brooks.
The family will be at the residence and will be receiving friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Monday, October 17, 2011 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
In honor of Mike's love of the outdoors it is suggested memorials be made to Out Door Dream Foundation, PO Box 802, Anderson, SC 29622.

Leise, you are in my heart and I am so truly sorry about your loss. What you and Mike had was such a special light that the glow was so obvious even to those of us that didn't know Mike - it was really amazing. You were blessed to have him, but he was also blessed to have you. Your strength will get you through this.

I had the privledge of spending only a few days with Mike here in my beloved Pike county Ohio woods. He fell in love with our place and our people. It is a tragedy that we will not be able to continue this tradition. However, I know he is watching over me from that big hunting lease in the heavens above, trying his best to lead that big bruiser buck my way. Thank you Mike. You will be missed.

I met Mike maybe 20 years ago.He seemed to love all aspects of the outdoors and he did beautiful taxidermy work.He died doing what he loved to do.I wish we could all do that.

The last time I saw Mike and you was when y'all came over and he borrowed my chipper and saw my pet deer. So sorry for your loss, didn't know Mike very well, but I thought a lot of him. Thoughts and prayers will be with you and family.

Leise, We met you and Mike at the beach back in the summer thru Lisa and Matt. Our heart goes out to you and your family. Such a tragedy.
