Samuel Moore Obituary

SAM MOORE February 9, 1950-September 11, 2008 ANDERSON- Samuel Douglas Moore, Sr., 58, of Anderson, husband of Janet Hysinger Moore, died Thursday September 11, 2008 at his residence. He was born to the late John H. and Carlene S. Moore, February 9, 1950 in Chattanooga, TN. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, John Henry Moore, Jr. Sam graduated from Chattanooga High School and received a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University in 1973. He married Janet Hysinger in 1976 and they lived in Chattanooga until 2004 when they relocated to Anderson, SC. Sam was Superintendent of the Overhead Line Department at the Chattanooga Electric Power Board until his retirement in 2003 after 30 years service with the company. He was a member of the Electric League of Chattanooga, The Chattanooga Engineers Club, and served on the Steering Committee of Transmission and Distribution Maintenance Management. He was past president of the Hamilton County Chapter of the American Heart Association and was selected as a Loaned Executive with the United Way. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Before moving to Anderson, Sam served as a Deacon at Memorial Baptist Church in Chattanooga, having been ordained in 2002. He was currently an active member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Easley. Sam is survived by his wife, Janet of the home and a son, Samuel Douglas (Sam) Moore, Jr., and his wife, Jennifer of Jefferson, GA. He is also survived by an aunt, two nephews and several cousins. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church conducted by the Revs. Dave Shorter and Earl Phillips. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Friday at the Northeast Chapel. In lieu of flowers; memorials may be made to The Cancer Association of Anderson, 215 East Calhoun St., Anderson, SC 29621. SULLIVAN-KING MORTUARY, NORTHEAST CHAPEL
