January 14, 1938 - March 29, 2025
Jerry "Smiley" David Ferguson, 87, formally of Concord, NC passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Saturday March 29th, 2025 at AdventHealth Hospice in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
Smiley was born January 14th, 1938 in Monroe, North Carolina to the late Emory Ferguson and the late Ethal Helms Ferguson.
Smiley served honorably in the U.S. Navy, upholding a tradition of courage, commitment, and unwavering dedication to defending freedom around the world.
Smiley moved to Sebring, Florida with his family in 1971 where he enjoyed raising his family and watching his sons play baseball and football. He loved being outside whether it was playing golf or treasuring family trips to the beach or mountains. Smiley loved his family deeply and cherished spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Smiley's smile was warm and kind, and all who knew him felt welcomed and loved. We know he is with God now, however he will live in our hearts forever.
Proceeded in death by his wife Diane Ferguson and his son Eric Ferguson. Survivors include his sons Kevin (and Kerry) Ferguson and Greg (and Marianne) Ferguson of Orlando Florida, grandchildren Andrew, Kalie Kendall (and Dakota), Kristina Smith (and Logan), Garrett (and Odessa), and Madison, great grandchildren Noah, Koah, Liam, Gohan, Cassie and Emory, sister Becky Blackwell (and Herman).
A celebration of Smiley's life will be held at a later date with details to be announced.
