Chris McLane Obituary

Christopher Giles McLane, 61, died Thursday, February 6, 2025 at his home.

Born in Concord, NC, he was the son of the late Giles Donald and Linda Beam McLane. Chris was a 1982 graduate of Ninety Six High School and attended Lander College and Piedmont Technical College. He was formerly employed by Ninety Six Piggly Wiggly for 15 years and worked with Fuji Film for more than 20 years.

Chris was a devoted father to his two sons and he cherished every moment spent with them. He made it a point to be involved in their lives, instilling in them the values of creativity and hard work. An avid reader, Chris found countless adventures within the pages of his favorite books, often sharing them with those close to him. He enthusiastically cheered on the University of North Carolina Tarheels in whatever sport they were playing.

Chris is survived by his sons, Allan G. McLane (Danielle) and William J. McLane (Katherine); his sister, Angela McLane Cogburn; his grandchildren, Zoey Lindley, Lillian Kate Brinson and Wyatt McLane; 12 nieces and nephews; and the mother of his children, Mandy McLane.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Melrose Cemetery, Abbeville.

Prior to the service on Friday, the family will receive friends from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at Harley Funeral Home, Greenwood.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be sent to the Greenwood County Library System, Ninety Six Branch, 100 Cambridge St S., Ninety Six, SC 29666.
