Danny Tommie Obituary
Born February 8, 1959, in Lancaster, SC he was a son of the late William Joseph Tommie, Sr. and Jean Elizabeth Still Tommie. Danny was a 1977 graduate of Greenwood High School and 1982 graduate of Lander College. Known as Coach Tommie to many of his students and players, taught and coached in Greenwood School District 50 for over 32 years at Southside Junior High School, Westview Middle School, and Emerald High School.
Danny was a member of Abney Memorial Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Christopher (Holly) Tommie of Charleston, Jeremy Tommie of Greenwood, and Will Tommie (Madison) of Charlotte, NC; three siblings, Joe Tommie, Jr. (Joy) of Woodstock, GA, Beth Christensen (Eric) of Greenwood, and Mike Tommie (Cathy) of Charlotte, NC; and five grandchildren, Journey, Willow, Ember, Ella, and Piper Tommie.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Saturday at Abney Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Justin Arender officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Sherard, Joe Rinehart, Lenson Osborne, Mark Brunson, Todd McCutcheon, and Jason McClendon.
The family is at the home and will receive friends from 5-7 Friday evening at Blyth Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Abney Memorial Baptist Church 210 Bypass 225 S., Greenwood, SC 29646 or to Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Danny. We sat in the bleachers watching our sons play soccer for Emerald High for years. Such wonderful memories! He was a good man. Praying for the family during this difficult time.
