James McFarling Obituary

James Woodrow McFarling 86 of Indianapolis passed away Friday, March 17, 2006 in Sebring Fl . He was born on October 3, 1919 to Ora Dell and Leonard McFarling in Marshall, IL. Jim graduated from Casey High School, moving to Indianapolis to work at Bell Telephone. He became a partner in Mid State Poultry Egg and then Founded McFarling Foods Inc. in 1948. He served in the US Army during WWII in Fiji Islands and received the Tabua Award from the Fijian government. Jim was a Kentucky Colonel, rewarded the Sagamore of the Wabash in 1981, president of Antelope Club, Country Club of Indianapolis, and The Gatlin Gun Club. 50 year Murat Shriner-Horse Patrol and member of Spring Lakes. Jim's loves in life were his family, Indianapolis 500, thoroughbred horses, and golf. He is survived by Louise Thompson McFarling; 2 sisters, Nelle Barkley and Milderd Nunamaker; 2 brothers, Robert McFarling and Donald P. McFarling of Indianapolis; 3 daughters, Mary Kaye Rider and Sherrie Breedlove of Indianapolis; Patricia MacMillan of Pompano Beach Fl; 8 grandchildren, Jeff, James and Dustin Rider; Daniel, Christopher and Andrew MacMillan; Tyler and MaKenzie Breedlove A Memorial Service at the Country Club of Indianapolis, 2801 Country Club Rd. on Friday, March 31, 2006 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. All friends and family are invited to celebrate Jim's life. No flowers please.
