Mary Connor Obituary

Mary Evelyn Connor 86, Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2005. She was born on June 30, 1919 to Emma Nichols Harrison and was adopted by Orville H. and Hazel M. Myers. A lifelong resident of Indianapolis, she graduated from Shortridge High School and attended Butler University where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She married Nicholas J. Connor in 1942 and enjoyed a career in shopping services at L.S. Ayres until she started her family. Following the death of her husband, she continued to operate his business (old) Centennial Press until it was sold in 1973. Mary was a 50-year member of the Indianapolis Day Nursery and a charter member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. Mary is survived by her children, Nicholas J. Connor, Jr. and Stephen M. Connor, Sr.; grandchildren, Shannon M. Gentile, Melissa R. Basta, Mary K. Wiltrout, Stephen M. Connor, Jr., Brian J. Connor; seven great grandchildren and special friends, Mary Russell Sousott and Barbara Russell. She is best remembered as caring and loving and one who gave generously to family, friends, and numerous charitable organizations throughout her life. Friends and family will gather on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Leppert Life Story Funeral Home, Nora Chapel, 740 E. 86th St. A service to celebrate her life will begin at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with interment following at Crown Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to I.W.I.N. Foundation, 5501 N. College Ave., Indpls., IN 46220, Little Sisters of the Poor, or to Salvation Army.
