My grandfather was the best man I knew. Me and him had a very close relationship. I will always remember the good memories and good times that I had around him. I want him to watch down on us from heaven.

I first met Rick Faulk at the Standdown for Homeless Veterans. Hard to believe that's been fifteen or more years ago. He was always encouraging to me in whatever needs presented themselves. Rick was obviously a family man - not only immediate family but the family of Veterans as well. It's hard to imagine a VFW world without him in it. Rick fought the good fight on behalf of his family and on behalf of his country. The last few years have been tough and he remained active and always had that welcoming smile on his face. We all will miss his words of wisdom, his smile and his support in the years ahead. We've lost a good man. Blessings to all in his family both near and far. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Rest well Rick; a life well lived, a job well done!

A few years ago our Indy based Marine Reserves were activated to go take out Sadam. Rick Faulk and Post 2839 stood up along side the Marine Corps League and the Ernie Pyle Post to support over 100 families of these deployed Marines. Food Banks, Diapers, Car repair, Home Appliance Repair and just plain support of a loving helping hand made us all a common patriotic support of our troops.
That is when and where I met Rick.
A couple of Years Later, The same year Rick was State Commander VFW in Indiana, I was the State Commandant of the Marine Corps League, and another of or 2839 Post Ralph Tolan was the State Commander of American Legion. We all collaborated and made INDIANA better for Hoosier Veterans.
Many stories to tell over a cold beverage.
I already miss one very good friend.
Now you all know Rick had several phrases he would utter at the Appropriate times. I loved him enough to utter one of them to him today in his casket. Now some would find it offensive, but if you do you did not know the man. I said B...M..H.... and I swear I saw a smirk on his face. Love you Rick!! Semper Fidelis Fly Boy!!!!

Rick will be missed by all the VFW & American Legion Brothers and Sisters. He was a main stay at VFW Post 2839 and dedicated so many years to keeping the post alive and well. Rick will be a hard man to replace because of his wavered dedication to the post. Rest in Peace Brother.

"Big Rick" was always so kind to me, and he and Gloria always made me feel like family even though it was my sister that married into the Faulks. He always had a hug, a joke, and a smile for me when we would see each other. He was always kind to my children, and gracious. He was an all around good man, someone you could speak of with pride and set the right examples for all of us to live by. I've known him for 23 years and he never skipped a beat! Be well Big Rick. You are quite loved!
