Perfect mate, life partner, protector and "everything" to Rhoda (nee Moses); proud, supportive, courageous father to Bonnie (Vincent), Melanie (Craig), and Shari (Thomas); adoring, doting, loving, Poppop to Jordyn (Sam), Sydney, Max, Matheson, and Sima. Bernie was an accomplished orthopedic surgeon, chief, teacher, mentor, family man, pilot, captain, expert whistler, crab-picker, model-builder, RC-flyer, neighbor, friend, husband, father, and grandfather. And so much more. Relatives and friends are invited to Graveside Services Tuesday September 8, 10:30 A.M. at Roosevelt Memorial Park (Trevose). I remember Bernie well. I spent lots of time on the farm. He often scolded me when I deserved it. I learned to love classical music playing his records on the phonograph in the billiard room. I remember his boxer, Pepper. And I remember him courting Rhoda. Last time I saw him was at a cousins party at his house. He made a tape for me and my husband of Callas singing Lucia di Lammermoor.

My mom, Janice Silverman Kurzweil, had fond childhood memories of the Amster cousins. As adults they occasionally joyfully gathered. Though I did not know Bernie or the adult life he created I wanted to reach out and send my condolences on behalf of myself, my mom and my Aunt Estelle who told me of Bernie´s passing. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.

Dr. Amster, Chief, will be missed by his family as well as his orthopedic family. I am forever grateful that Chief accepted me into Del Val Ortho in 1995 as the first female in the program. He was a great educator and role model for all of us. The Baumann/Dolan family send their sincere thoughts and prayers to his family.

We go back, practically, from the beginning of time. our first offices were at opposite ends of the street and then we moved next door to each other for many years.
