Christopher Amster Obituary

Christopher Tye Amster, 72, of Clarksville, passed away in the evening hours of November 4th. Chris was born in Floyd County, Indiana, on December 8, 1952, to parents Zol Amster and Catherine "Camilla" (Brown) Amster.
Chris worked as an upgrade technician with Ford Motor Company for over 30 loyal years until his retirement in 2007. Before laboring in the automotive industry, he served his country in the United States Army. Chris was an active member of the American Legion Post 28 in New Albany, Indiana.
Chris was as authentic as they come-straightforward, witty, occasionally stubborn, and always dependable. He had a deep, unmistakable love for his home state and could often be found cheering (and sometimes yelling) at the television during Indiana University Hoosiers games. He also never turned down an ice-cold Big Red soda, he was notorious for slipping his grand babies sips of Big Red when their parents weren't looking.
Although he carried himself with a tough exterior, that shell didn't stand a chance once he became a Pawpaw. His grandchildren were his greatest joy. He always had Dum-Dum suckers in his pockets-never for himself, always for them. Their laughter softened him in ways that words rarely could, and his face lit up whenever they came running through the door. His love for them was pure, proud, and steady.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Ayrica Amster; brothers, Marc Amster, Patrick Amster, and Phillip Amster; father-in-law, Paul Devore; and furry companion, Livie Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife of 28 years, Dana (Devore) Amster; daughter, Megan Petty (Trenton); son, Nathan Scarbrough (Kristan); sisters, Lou Ellen Newton and Star LaDuke (Jerry); grandchildren, Adeline Petty, Tripp Petty, and Hadley Scarbrough.
A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025, from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM, at the Market Street Chapel of Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes. Memorial services will follow visitation at 6:00 PM.
Donations in Christopher's memory may be made to Humane World for Animals (1255 23rd St NW Ste 450, Washington, DC 20037).
Chris "PawPaw" will be remembered for his strong heart, his stubborn spirit, and the way he loved - especially when it came to his family.
