We just heard of Mr. Dunbar's passing over the weekend. We had the privledge of being neighbors for close to 30 years on Lasher Road and never met a nicer, kinder man who always had the time to speak with us. What a classy man and we are honored to have known him. My wife Deb and I are sincerely sorry for the family's loss.

Charlie was a true Romantic, whom was in love with life and family. His love affair of family was one that I felt truly blessed to have witnessed first hand.
The Segal's(Joe, Joan, Jeffrey, & Frank) met Charlie in the 70's when he worked with Joe. I remember Charlie waiting on our, South Philly, stoop, coffee in hand,so he and Joe could leave for work. I would sit and wait with Charlie and we would have these wonderful conversations. He was such a wonderfully smart and articulate man, whom was so easy to talk with and respect. He became a fatherly figure for me almost immediately. We would speak about anything and everything under the sun. We spoke mostly of his love of his family and his "Best Gal, Claire." He introduced me to his love of reading. The first book that he asked me to read was "THE TRINITY." I fell in love with this book immediately and started a love affair with Ireland and its history.
I feel so blessed to have known Charlie. Almost instantly he became a trusted friend and upon meeting the Dunbar family for the first time enlightened me to the love of family. Especially when my family was invited to share in your families home and events such as: The in-law-out-law parties; Your 4th of July celebrations; Birthdays; and Weddings. I felt like we were included in your family as honorary family members. I felt a belonging that I never shared with any family and tried to mold my own family accordingly. I looked to you, Claire, for guidance while raising my boys. You were the one Woman, whom I watched and wanted to be more like. I tried to raise my family with the same love, values, and respect that I saw in your family. Clare, your family has always been an inspiration to me.
I will never forget how Charlie always referred to you, with his beaming smile that radiated his love, as his "BEST GAL" it was the most touching sentiment that I have ever seen. The love that the both of you shared always emanated from you both bringing tears to my eyes. Charlie always glowed whenever he spoke of you or your family and it radiated from him and would become encapsuliating.
I share in your grief and Charlie will be greatly missed. Thank you for allowing me and mine to be an honorary part of your family.
