Joel Bloom Obituary
JOEL N., September 23, 2008, of Philadelphia PA. Husband of the late Paula (nee Yackira). Father of Dan (Naomi Weinstein) Bloom, Margo (Mark A. Seal) Bloom and Ron (Linda Silma) Bloom. Grandfather of Sarah, Molly, Joshua, Ethan, Jacob and Emma. Relatives and friends are invited to Services Friday, September 26, 2008, at 1 P.M., at JOSEPH LEVINE AND SON, N. Broad St. above 71st Ave. Interment Mt. Sharon Cemetery. Shiva will be observed at the late residence following Interment through Friday evening. Saturday evening and Sunday at the residence of Margo Bloom and Mark A. Seal. Monday morning at the home of Dan Bloom and Naomi Weinstein. The family respectfully requests that contributions in his memory be made to American Technion Society or to the National Parkinson Foundation.

My sympathy to the families of both Joel and Pepi Bloom. I worked at FI for several years and was their computer teacher. They were a wonderful couple who desired to expand their knowledge and enjoyed life. They will always have a special place in my heart and soul.

Although it has been many years, I have very fond remembrances of Joel during the time I served on the Board of the Franklin Institute. He was always a very cheery person who deeply loved his museum.

My deep condolences to Joel's family and the science center and museum world who has lost a great leader. Joel touched my life in a small way, but had a memorable effect on me. I was fortunate to have had some connection with him and I am grateful for that.
He left a large imprint on the museum world.

I owe a great deal to Joel. In 1963 he hired a young man with no experience to work with him in the Research Labs. He taught me everything that contributed to my future sucesses. Thank you Joel, and God Bless You.
