Jody and Family - All of us are still deeply saddened by Joe´s passing and the huge hole in our hearts that he leaves. We all loved him as a colleague and a friend within Watershed Concepts and outside. Of my memories of Joe, I´d like to share this with you and his family. The one that stands out to me is when we first met in 2001 at the Charlotte NC ASFPM conference. This was a memorable conference because it was also when Scott and Joe introduced Watershed Concepts team and brand to the business community of floodplain managers. It did not take long for the team to grow into an industry leaders thanks to the leadership of Joe, Scott, and many others. What I also remember about ASFPM 2001 is that the Watershed Concepts team were all wearing the same polo shirts with our Watershed Concepts logo. I say our logo because in 2008 I joined Joe at Watershed Concepts. Another connection I had with Joe was in the world of surfing. Joe knew about my surfing background and love of the ocean. Joe always joked with me about requesting job assignments at the beach so I could monitor the waves (i.e., go surfing). I don´t believe Joe ever surfed, but he knew I surfed and he joked with me about it every time we got together This was especially true when he relocated to Fortitude Valley in Queensland Australia - one of the very best surfing areas in the world. I was very envious of his work location and tried to get over (to the land down under) and get Joe out into the waves. However, I never made it before he returned back to the States. That is one bit of my history with Joe I wanted to share. We will miss Joe - aloha my friend.

I am shocked and very sad to learn of Joe´s passing. We worked together on the NC Floodplain Mapping Program. I recall how his face lit up when he smiled, his sense of humor, work ethic, knowledge and professionalism. He will be missed by many.
