I'll miss Complications, I'll miss Relentless, I'll miss One Puff, but most of all I'll miss Precious!
I'll miss his long phone calls, I'll miss him giving me the bum's rush when i'd call during a race or when he was putting in his bet, i'll miss his calls to come up for broccoli rabe, I'll miss our nights on the deck with the Bose, I'll miss sharing the Jackie sauce, i'll miss my friend Joe Kernan forever.

The mush

September 22, 2018

When a guy who has been confined to a wheelchair for nearly the last 27 years and has been very sick for the last six months is called home to God its not supposed to be this hard of a hit. But this one is. Joey had a heart that the rest of us don't get. Whatever role in life played as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all he did it well. He was one of Port Richmond's special ones. Joe handled his cross in life better than anyone. He was the best to hang out with. His use of the phone was legendary. No texting, pick up and you'd hear that long Hellloo of his. Just treasured memories now; Gods greatest gift. So Joey me Irish will eyes have a mist in them every time I hear a Van Morrison or Band song. Loved by all Joe, always made me proud to say the name Joe Kernan; the guy with the good Heart. God Luv Ya.

I really wish I had the opportunity to meet such a kind hearted, family oriented, and life force like Mr Kernen. His generosity to his family was relentless. He put his own health issues aside to care and nurture his children and his grandchildren. He is a positive force for everyone he touched with his determination, strength, and ability to move on know matter what obstacle was in his way.
