I thought of Rich and looked him up, very saddened to hear of his passing. I´m sorry to say that we lost touch after the Summer of 1988 when we worked together on LBI. Rich was a special guy, and I can only imagine how much he is missed by his family.

Rich Nocella was a great teacher and a good man. I had the pleasure of being Mr. Nocella's student at Valley Forge High School. I ran into him at a bar down the shore years later buying a six pack. He was tending bar and I hope I remembered to thank him then for the impact he had on my junior high school life. Mr. Nocella had a wicked sense of humor which made class very fun. I spent a lot of time in detention with Mr. Nocella. He is missed.

I was really sad to hear about Mr. Nocella. He was the coolest teacher and really down-to-earth. He made a big impact on all of this students and will be missed. He was one of my favorite teachers at Hill Top and also was an amazing couch ... in sports and life.

It saddens me that he will not be able to inspire anybody else, however he did inspire and help many students and was really loved.

Dear Karen,
Hal just called me to tell me of Rich's sudden death... and my mind flew back to wonderful memories of our lunch together last year in Key West. I can see Rich now sitting in the sunlight with his head thrown back in laughter and that delicious gleam of merriment in his eyes.

I can only imagine that you and the kids are still in shock. How do you fill the hole left by such an exuberant personality, a generous soul and a cherished partner and Dad? Thank goodness you are such a strong, capable, talented woman and that you and the kids are close. Please know that my thoughts are with you in these dreadful days.

As I write this with tears and disbelief, Nocella was the one, the only one, who believed in me; he pushed me to do better. I will always cherish the times I spent at the Nocella's. From splitting piles of wood, putting up fence posts (twice because of rain), the installing barn doors (screwing the hinges by hand) for Karen's horses, and the wonderfull dinners Karen would cook after a hard days work. I will miss you. My deepest sympathies to Karen and the kids. He loved to talk about his family. God bless the Nocella's. A.C.

I was very shocked and saddened when I heard the news of Mr. Nocella's death. He was very fit. I had him as a teacher at Hill Top and his class was very interesting and not easy. I rode with him when he had job of taking and picking kids up from the Villanova train station. He was always smiling and had a wonderful sense of humor. I am very sorry that I will not be home in time to attend his funeral. I will always cherish the fond memories I have of him. I cannot imagine what his family is going through. Thank you and God bless you Mr. Nocella.

It is with a heavy heart that I write this note.

Rich was a huge positive influence in my life. I had the fortune to have him as teacher many years ago. Rich was one of those teachers that you will always remember for making a difference. His passion and ability to reach us set him apart and will always have a very warm spot in my heart.

Unfortunately I will not be able to attend this week as I will be out of town on business.

Rich was taken from us suddendly and much too early.

I am saddend at his loss and extend my heart felt sympathies to his family and those that loved him.

He will be deeply missed by all of those who's lives he touched.

Hello, Rich Nocella or Mr. Nocella as we called him was one of the best teachers I ever had while at Hill Top or any school for that matter. I don't think it was possible for Mr. Nocella not to care about his students and the students he coached. I can still hear his voice yelling at Rich Henry and the varsity team during Basket Ball practice. I also remember how he tried his hardest to guide me to college rather than a school in Florida. In the end he was correct is his assessment of what I needed in my life. I always appreciated that. I'm sorry for your loss, I know he will be missed.

Dear Karen, Lauren, and Jeff,

We are so dismayed about the loss of your husband and father. May he rest in peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this sorrowful time. The wonderful memories of him will live with you forever.
