Not sure what to say?

Karen Beck

January 6, 2010

My husband and I both graduated from La Salle University and I just read in the alumni magazine that the world lost this dear man last January. Frankly, I do not know what to say...such a force that was Bob Vogt was easily expected to be with us forever: consoling, guiding, encouraging, teaching, loving and (not least of all) laughing and joking. How can this be? He should still be here with us, doing life's good work as only he could.
During an earlier chapter of his life, we met Bob when my husband and I both worked at Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia. He would show such compassion and concern for not only those who were ill, but also the staff, that we both decided we wanted this kind man to start us on our journey together in life - which he graciously did on February 11, 1989.

He will forever be a part of our family and our hearts go out to yours.

I just heard about the passing of BOB and I must say that I was quite taken aback. The last time I saw Bob was at the LIHEAP Kickoff where he was the winner of the two tickets to a Steelers game! Bob was a joy to work with and he will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Phyllis,

My heart aches for you. I can't believe we will never have our Friday nights together again. The two of you together was like nothing I have ever seen before and probably never will again. You were everything to each other. He was not Bob and you were not Phyllis - you were Bob AND Phyllis. You came in a set, a pair, and you couldn't get one without the other. One can only aspire to have the love that you both shared for each other. I can only pray that you remain strong because I know how broken you feel. He was an angel who walked among us and we are all so blessed to have known him. He is now your guardian angel, watching over you, protecting you and willing you to keep taking that next breath. Just as he always did. I am so sorry.

Love, Kelli

Bob (Uncle Big Guy) meant the world to Kate, I and our Boys. He always knew the right words to say. When my Dad died a few years back, Phyllis and Bob sent a card with a message that Bob wrote. I'd like to share a few of Bob's words from that card:
"After all the hugs and best wishes, after all the prayers and blessings, after all the details and documents, the strength and beauty of your wonderful family lives on. Your Dad's love for all of you also lives on. You will never lose the presence of his spirit, the memory of his "pearls of wisdom" and the gift of his love for you. Your faith has been a treasure and source of strength that will continue to give you hope. So take one day at a time, be good to Mom and stay one with Dad in prayer. We will continue to pray for you and your family in our prayers for strength of faith and the power of family love. Remember to share the stories and the times he made you laugh. God Love You!"

We can all take Bob's words and hopefully find comfort. For Bob's love for all of us will live on forever. We will never lose the presence of his Spirit (I'm sure he won't let us). He will be missed and will always be loved by all who knew him. Our Thoughts, Prayers and Love are with you Phyllis. God Love You & Bless You!

We met Bob through the A.I.U. As new parents to A.I.U., he really made us feel welcome during our fall orientation. My husband will always remember Bob as the man that said, "When we meet, we eat!" I'll never forget his laughter as we both sat at the same table during the Stress Management Class and how I joked with him saying that he could be my husband so he could eat dinner with the group (since my husband couldn't attend and Bob didn't RSVP in time to get his meal). We were both shocked to hear of his passing. Despite only meeting Bob a few times, he will be dearly missed by us & all. We hope that you find peace and love from everyone that knew Bob. God bless.

Phylis,
Bob left this world too soon, but I remember fondly all the good he did. There will be sorrow for our lose, but now he walks with angels including Momma Shook.

Faith, hope and Love abide these three. But the greatest of these is love.

This is my favorite Bible verse, mainly because no matter what love goes on.

Blessings to you and your family

Bob Vogt is one of my most treasured memories. He saw me through some of my most difficult hours. He baptized two of my babies. We had lost touch for a number of years but reconnected over the last few. He was an inspiration to all that knew him. His life personified what a man should be. I know Phyllis will miss him terribly, and for those of us who have known him there will be a void in our hearts. We loved him as he loved us.
